James Brown Tribute 1933-2006 (Part One)

This is Clark Dark introducing that delectable chocolate sweetie,GIRL6 with a tribute to James Brown. GIRL6.
Thank you Clark. I want to take a solemn moment to recall, recognize and remember the late great,

GREAT Godfather of Soul, The Hardest Working Man in Show Business, Soul Brother No.1….. Brother James Brown. This ‘GIRL’ can tell you James Brown was a huge influence and a part of my growing up, my young adulthood and my life as a full grown and sexy adult until the day he passed on.

Oh the concerts and the songs and all that went with them! To list a few of my favorites---Make It Funky, Soul Power, Super Bad (Part I and
Part II), Big Payback, This Is A Man’s World, Cold Sweat, Sex Machine, Funky Good Time, Say it Loud(I’m Black and I’m Proud). The list goes on and on but these are the jams that made me move and groove way into the night at parties in high school and college.

James brought a rawness to live performances which weren’t far off the mark when compared to the performances captured in the studio recordings.

It was the songs on stage with his band, a tight, precision band of so many very highly skilled wonderful trained musicians, all very talented themselves; the dancers on occasion and the singers—all of these perfomers added to the fiery fusion of his own sound, A sound that could get a good ready crowd all worked up in a frenzied cycle of passion and dance and a feeling that you would not want to end no time soon. I would always go dressed comfortably to see a James Brown show. There was no way you'd sit still for a James Brown show. You were going to move and dance and after one musical experience, you were def going to sweat!

TRIBUTE to JAMES BROWN

James Brown Tribute 1933-2006 (Part Two)

Another aspect of James is his enduring influence on music. He has influenced many, many other great musical icons through his decades long musical legacy.

The Beatles, Mick Jagger and the Rolling Stones.Musical genres such as blues, pop, disco, hip-hop and rap exhibit the impact of his artistic innovations. Michael Jackson and PRINCE, to name the obvious are examples of James Brown's significance in the history of American popular music.

It is no secret who influenced both Michael Jackson and PRINCE. It is quite apparent by what you see PRINCE do on stage. You can tell he patterned himself after James. The way he leads and commands a band on stage, his delivery of a song and his moves--all so very reminiscent of the Great Funky One.

All of us have seen by the foot work Michael Jackson displays when dancing, that from the time he was a child to appearing onstage as an adult with James, Michael holds James Brown in extremely high esteem.

I have seen only once a rare piece of film footage which captured James on stage with both PRINCE and Michael Jackson, each performing a dance maneuver to show the one they idolize how much he means to them; and James ever so grateful, proud and pleased with both young men. (This was sometime ago as Prince was not quite full on Purple Rain "The Kid" yet but almost).

James had another side which endeared him to many fans. His love of people in general and his generosity to care and teach and take pride in oneself. Many times I read where he stalled near riots.

That was during turbulent times in this country in places he traveled where there was unrest. That was back during the Civil Rights era. Often times he spoke directly to young people encouraging them to get an education. He encouraged them to turn away from violent behavior toward one another and others. Always persuading and trying to show others a better way to live through improving themselves. Uplifting people by his message songs and his patriotism.

I appreciated him for who he was. A real man. He was always grateful. Many times flawed by the things he was entrapped by through his fame. The State of South Carolina appreciated James, too. Not many people recall James, at age 70, was pardoned by the South Carolina Department of Probation, Parole and Pardon Services for his run-ins with the law in that state. Brown, who appeared before the board, sang "God Bless America" after the decision. This means he was fully forgiven from all the legal consequences of his crime and his conviction. His response to the decision filled with gratitude:
"God bless America on this beautiful day. I hope my pardon shows the youth that America is a beautiful country. I feel good!"
One thing for sure you know when you bought and paid for a show ticket to see him—you got your money’s worth and then some.

Thank you Mr. Brown. Thank you for being for being in my life at the time you were. Thank you for providing me with good times and good soul shaking, body movin' music for listening and dancing. You won’t be forgotten.
Missed a lot but *(tapping my heart)* you right here man!

    Farewell, rest easy.
"Que pasa people, que pasa! Hit me!"-James Brown

T.O. Fires Publicist Kim Etheredge

GIRL6 has the latest scoop about our favorite NFL wide receiver Terrell Owens of the Dallas Cowboys.
Well, well,well!

Saving a life means nothing today. And saving the life of your employer means even less. Talk about gratitude!

As reported in Dallas Monday and all over ESPN and other media outlets this week seems the all mouthy one, spit-spuing, "my-girl-don't-love-me" proclaiming, too much drama, "gimme me the ball", dropping too many balls, perhaps
soon-to-be-looking-for-his-own-j-o-b wide out of the Dallas Cowboys, Terrell Owens supposedly has released Kim "Miss 25 Million Reasons to Live, Though I May Have Saved Your A**" Etheredge, from her position as his personal publicist.

Okay, we all heard Ms Etheredge in her news conference. The way she responded after the alledged "accidental" overdose incident of Terrell Owens last September; saying those words she should regret in reference to his Dallas contract,as the reason he would not hardly take his own life as initially reported he had attempted to do.

I mean it may have been completely believable--all the spin doctoring surrounding the incident, had she not made such an irresponsible, unprofessional statement. Couldn't it?

They was kinda on a roll with it after Owens appeared several hours after being in a hospital; he looking pretty alive, alert and cunning for the cameras and all media at the Irvin facility; he explaining what had happened and absurdly misunderstood by us mortals.

Who these folks tryta to be foolin'? I am not sayin all is truth in all this. We was being worked over for sure.

However, there was a 911 call for help to his address and Girlfriend did sound shaky and overwhelmed about something though she never mentioned the word "suicide" or who "he" was. An emergency unit did respond; there is a police report; and he did have a hospital stay overnight. It's has been relatively quiet as far as any mention of Ms Etheredge in connection to T.O., as in T.O. has distanced himself from Etheredge unlike their relationship before this mysterious incident and nearly well orchestrated news conference. And now, she gets fired, released, quit or whatever. He may have had 25 million reason to get rid of her(??)

EDITOR'S NOTE: (The head of the Dallas Police union is demanding an apology from Terrell Owens and Owens' "fancy little football person".)

Well, all I am saying is there is a story here. Perhaps we'll never know the deal. It involves the parties mentioned past and present. All I can think right now is...."I possibly saved your life and after four months we can't repair or fix or whatever enough so you don't fire me so publicly?"

I wonder what kind of relationship they really had?
Things that make you go ..Hmmmmmmm.

Be sure to check out GIRL6's tribute to the late great James Brown!
Good gawd! Heh-Heh-Heh! Ha!

Love and Charity Mission in Racine, Wisconsin

With all the talk of raising the minimum wage we thought we'd give you some facts about life in America today.

Today 37 million Americans live in poverty. Many families must choose which of the basic necessities of life they will provide for their families. They must choose among food, housing, medical treatment and clothing.

All over this great nation members of varied communities are pulling together to help one another. Farmers are forming cooperatives to save their farms and to supply fruits and vegetables to their neighbors. Volunteers are walking young students to school to protect them from violence. After school programs are teaching children valuable life skills in order that they may be able to be productive, self-sufficient citizens in the future. Many are getting the remedial reading and math skills needed to be able to find suitable employment.

One group has been working to help sustain the less fortunate members of the community in Racine, Wisconsin, Love and Charity Mission.

Under the spirit inspired leadership of Mrs. Louise Hunter, affectionately known as Mother Hunter, the mission has been feeding, clothing and supplying housing for untold hundreds, probably thousands for more than 40 years.

Today the Love and Charity Mission provides meals, afterschool programs and tutoring as well as computer instruction for those in need.

Make a donation of your time or money to help this worthwhile effort.
