Film Director Spike Lee Honored for Film Work
Film director Spike Lee, pictured here with his son,
recently travelled to Italy to receive the 41st Fiesole Master of Film Award. The Italians honored Lee for his body of work which ranges from "School Days" to the thriller "Summer of Sam" to the documentary "The Day the Levees Broke" In his remarks during a news conference prior to the award ceremony Lee informed the press he is not a memeber of the mainstream Hollywood film industry.
Lee was also in Italy to prepare for the filming of his next film about black American soldiers who participated in the liberation of thousands of European people affected by World War II.
