The Actual Most Challenging Big Ten Match-Ups On The Penn State Schedule
Oct 19, 2010 in College Sports
Penn State football has gotten off to a tough start this year, dropping games to Alabama, Iowa, and Illinois. Their Big Ten conference schedule doesn’t get any kind of easier as there are a number of tough games left.
The actual Penn State football team had higher hopes for 2010. Whilst they did not expect this to be a stellar year in the Big Ten, they did start out ranked, and expected to at least compete in the Big Ten. They also had a big out of conference match-up with Alabama which provided plenty of pre-season excitement.
Unfortunately, the growing season has not gone as expected. Several losses and a team that’s struggling help to make upcoming games with Michigan, Ohio State, and Michigan State just about all appear challenging. Penn State vs Michigan football tickets will still be tough to get since the Nittany Lions has a faithful fan base, but there is plenty of anxiousness over if the group may even have a winning record this season or even reach a bowl game.
But which games forthcoming are the hardest? With how the team has performed so far, none of the Big Ten games will probably be easy, and you can expect the actual Nittany Lions to become big underdogs in a number of games. Games that at the start of the year were expected to become relatively easy, or at best easier, are actual hurdles.
The actual toughest game for Penn State is without a doubt the Ohio State game in Columbus. The Buckeyes happen to be ranked #1 in college football, and along with the game on the road, Penn State will be a several touchdown underdog. Penn State has struggled in order to beat Ohio State on the road in good years, therefore this season it will be especially difficult. Penn State vs Ohio State football tickets will be difficult to obtain.
The second most difficult game in my opinion is the Michigan State game. Michigan State happens to be a Penn State nemesis, the team that always has their number, and additionally they are actually playing extremely well this year. It is the last home game of the season, and Penn State vs Michigan State tickets will still be in demand, but the Spartans will likely have more to play for than PSU at that point. This means a more inspired opponent.
Then there are games versus Michigan and Northwestern. They are teams that similar to Michigan State, usually seems to give PSU difficulties. Whilst Michigan has struggled in recent years, they are surging again this year. Northwestern has started the season quite strong and are having a better than average year. With Northwestern surging, this means a spike in demand for tickets within their group of followers, so again Penn State vs Northwestern tickets will be similarly tough to get.
The overall game Penn State most likely seems most comfortable about is the game vs Indiana, that this season is being performed at FedEx field in Landover, Maryland. This is supposedly a neutral site, but most likely is going to be packed with Penn State fans. Indiana has a good offense, however I’d anticipate the excitement and energy of a 90,000 strong crowd to carry the Nittany Lions, but who knows.
It is going to become a long difficult road within the Big Ten for Penn State the remainder of 2010.
