The Mariners who we said previously were 9-14-1 or 61% under against the total number, improve as we focus on home games played in Seattle. Now we see the Mariners are 3-8 or 73% under against the total number. That’s improvement of 12% but it gets better. Let’s compare the difference in facing a right handed to a left handed starting pitcher. The Mariners against a right handed starting pitcher are 8-9 or 53%. Against a left handed starter the Mariners now are 1-5-1 or 83%. Looks like we have found a great angle here. The Mariners playing at home against a starting left handed pitcher is very likely to go under the total. This week the Mariners host the Tampa Bay Rays then the Los Angeles Angles of Anaheim.

The Twins as we said earlier are 9-12-3 or 57% under against the total number all games played this season. The Twins, when playing at home, are 3-4-2 or once again 57% under against the total. The Twins, when playing on the road are 6-8-1 or 57% under against the total just as before. The Twins versus a staring right handed pitcher are 8-7-3 or 47% under against the total. However put the Twins versus a left handed pitcher you find they are 1-5-1 or 83% under against the total. As you can see the Twins are 47%-57% chance going under the total except when facing a lefty. All off sudden the under play has comes in at 83%. Something to consider this week at the Twins face the Detroit Tigers and Baltimore Orioles.

Here are two examples of betting the total just does not mean looking at the overall over and under stats. You need to break in down to more specific conditions and wait until those conditions appear again.

Today I am going to pick on Gil Meche of the Kansas City Royals. First, let me tell you a little about Meche. He is right handed 6 foot 3 inches tall and weighs 220 pounds. Meche is 31 years old, born is Louisiana and is in his 10th season. This is Meche’s 4th season with the Royals, previously he was with the Mariners.

Meche is not having good season. No, not even close. You see I look for pitchers that are having a season just like Meche is. Then I bet against them until they can turn it around.

Today is Tuesday May 4th and Meche just chalked up another loss last night against the White Sox. He currently is 0-3 as a starter. The Royals are 0-5 as a team when has had the start. You see two of the starts Meche only went 3 innings. His ERA has actually improved to 9.89 now.

Not only is Meche losing every start so far this year. He gives up so many hits that the score always goes over the total. Well not always, last night against the White Sox the game went shockingly went under. So now the Royals, in games where Meche has started, have gone over the total 4 out of 5 times. Last nights game was an improvement for the final score was only 5 to 1 loss.

The average total of runs scored in Meche’s fives starts is now 9.89. The average line on the total for his starts is 9.5 runs. For now, I would look at betting against Meche and bet the total to go over as long as the number is under 10. Eventually Meche will come out of this slump, but until he does you just play the trend. Baseball is all about trends and streaks and here we have one.

Since Meche just pitched last night, he yet to be scheduled as a probable starter. It does not seem to matter whether he pitches at home or away the result and numbers are about the same. I will monitor the Royals rotation this week to see when he gets his next start.

Unfortunately, the Royals as usual are last place in the American League Central with a 10-16 record. Only Baltimore Orioles has a worse record in the American League. Some things never Change in Kansas City and that is another good reason to seek out trends going against the Royals.

The only way to fully grade a handicappers picks is over the entire season.

A handicapper that just picks games without close examination is one that I would avoid. Remember to distinguish the difference between just lucky and picking the right side. After delaying the game because of bad weather and television officials consideration for the man who may become the next POTUS, the Philadelphia Phillies have clinched major league baseball’s World Series title for a second time. It’s their first championship in twenty-eight years. They bested the Tampa Bay Rays by winning four of the five games played. The major league championship event is determined by the best of seven games.

The last time the team won was in 1980 with the late Tug McGraw as the team’s reliable reliever in a stadium that no longer exists. Not bad fpr the team with the distinction of having lost the most games in the history of the sport.

On October 17th 2007 it was Shut It Down. On November 2nd 2007 it was Consumer Black Out. We now suggest we pick up the baton from writer Garret Keizer of Harper’s Magazine, who suggests November 6th as a date for a strike, by organizing a General Strike on Black Friday, November 23rd 2007, the day after Thanksgiving.

This is an uber powerful idea from our leader Henry T. Gandolph, Site Administrator.

Henry is a very wise man. He has come up with a solution to the quandary of when a general strike would have the most impact, and we really like the idea.

Henry says, “For the most impact, Friday, November 23rd would be the best day for a general strike! If everyone boycotts the stores it will send the whole country into a panic. If sales people refuse to work, how will they even open the stores? The whole Christmas sales season is prognosticated upon the the day after Thanksgiving sales. If We The People just withhold our holiday shopping on that day, We The People would surely get the media attention and the attention of the whole country including our political dictators. ” (They may not be 100% dictators in the classical sense but they truly love to dictate what we will do.)

The staff members have added to the Friday November 23 idea of a general strike by suggesting everyone also stay home from work on the following Monday November 26th. No work, no school, no shopping. No television viewing, no gas purchases, no radio listening. Take the entire weekend to spend real quality time with our families and think about where this country is going. What do you think?

Thanksgiving, Thursday, November 22, 2007 is the start of the long holiday weekend. The day after is usually the biggest shopping day of the year. Retailers nationwide are looking to the Christmas gift-giving season to make up for deficiencies in sales from the previous months. Black Friday, as the day after Turkey Day is known is the day retail businesses use to gauge how much they stand to profit over the next few weeks leading up to December 25th.

How powerful it would be if everyone, all of us, black, white, Latino, Asian, male, female, young, old, Christian, Jew, Muslim, Buddhist, atheist, agnostic, middle management, laborer, immigrant–legal and illegal, participated in a moratorium on consumerism for 2 days during one long holiday weekend to make the point We The People are extremely dissatisfied with our leadership in government on every level!

The people of Poland did it more than twenty years ago led by a man named Lech Walesa, an electrician by trade. Nine years later he became the leader of the nation.

To change this nation we can begin with just two days of not shopping. How hard can that be? Don’t work, don’t shop for two days, its kind of like a hunger strike against rampant irrational spending, consumerism, and war mongering. The war and the mismanaged economy need us to keep on spending to keep funding their activities. This is our chance to say “No”.

Our children are in need of health insurance coverage as well as a decent education in order to perform basic reading and math to get them through a lifetime. If you are dissatisfied with restrictive laws, police brutality and security guards gone rabid, with so called security to provide the illusion of homeland security….you need to SHUT IT DOWN OCTOBER 17, 2007!

As fate would have it, Keizer’s idea has taken hold in the blogesphere. Here is the message. STAY HOME. Don’t shop. Don’t attend school. Don’t watch television. Do not drive. Do not go to work. Plan to participate in a general strike just like the Polish people did in 1980. They changed their society. They stand as ashining stalwart example of what the people can do when they decide to do it…to get it done!

As soon as we’d heard the predictions from the baseball experts as to if and when you’d do it we were confident you could and you would do it.

Barry Lamar Bonds comes from a baseball DYNASTY! On the day he made his major league debut at the age of 21 in 1986, it became his destiny to become the reigning king of the home run. He is following in the steps of the great Henry Aaron, whose record stood for 31 years.

Despite the controversy and the folks who wish to vilefy him, Barry Lamar Bonds is BASEBALL ROYALTY!

Check out his lineage. He’s the son of All-Star ballplayer, Bobby Bonds. Both the late Babby Bonds and his son Barry have outstanding careers in baseball. For example the Bonds are only players ever to hit 30 HRs and steal 30 bases 5 times during a career. Between the two them they are responsible for 11 Gold Glove awards ( 8 fo r Barry, 3 for Bobby his father) . He’s a distant cousin of a Hall of Famer, Reggie Jackson. Bonds even has the distinction of calling the distinguished Hall of Famer Willie Mays, with whom he played catch growing up, his godfather.

The next best hereditary baseball situation is that of Prince Fielder, son of Cecil Fielder or Ken Griffey, Jr. and his venerated father Ken Griffey, Sr. all elite champions of the game.
