She was known as a popular governor, but not a really bright star on the political horizon. We’re hoping she’ll be as memorable as Mary “France” LeTulle.We continue to hear rumors of an investigation into an Alaska state scandal called “Trooper-gate”. We hear about a bridge to nowhere that received federal funding; funding that Palin says she turned down book the accounting records show she kept.

We hear Palin tirades about Senator Obama’s association with a reformed domestic terrorist. But we hardly hear anything about Governor Palin’s and the “first dude’s” association with the late Joe Vogler, a founder of the Alaska Independence Party. The party promotes and encourages Alaska’s session from the United States. Vogler is a guy who espoused a philosophy that sounds radical enough to be the rantings of a domestic terrorist or at least a guy who could have shared the dais with Reverend Jeremiah Wright ata dinner honoring Louis Farrakhan .

We hear the governor was found to have abused her gubernatorial powers to get her former brother-in-law fired. We think this strategy, getting the father of your sister’s child or children fired makes no sense whatsoever. Our goal as members of this society is to insure all parents have gainful employment to help provide essentials for the children. Deliberately plotting to get a father fired from his job because you have hard feelings based on his treatment of his former wife, your sister, is not beneficial for his child, nor is it helpful to the mother; besides ti’s really NOYB

We’re learning about Sarah Palin. What we are learning is Palin is vicious, conniving, and unsophisticated. Her personality is the perfect compliment to the ignorance, anger and rage exhibited by John McCain. Palin’s character traits combined with her outrageous ambition may be the demise of John McCain’s quest for the presidency. We certainly hope so.

David Kernell was released without posting bond, but  several conditions were imposed by the court. Kernell, who is an economics student at the University of Tennessee, is not allowed to own a computer and can use the Internet only for checking e-mail and doing class work.

Trial is set for December 16, 2008. Kernell faces a maximum of five years in prison, a $250,000 fine and a three-year term of supervised release.

Lately Palin’s been rehashing criticisms of Senator Obama’s alleged close associations with Rev. Jeremiah Wright and the reformed 1960s domestic terrorist William Ayers.  That blond dimwitted co-host on the daytime program The View has picked up Palin’s revisited talking points and erroneous slanderous remarks. Let’s stop for one moment to examine Sarah Palin’s associates. Let’s take a closer look at those whom she admires.

The late Joe Vogler of the Alaskan Independence Party–this is the party that wishes the state to secede from the union. Vogler famously said,”I’m an Alaskan, not an American. I’ve got no use for America or her damned institutions.”  Wow! He sounds like he’s got more in common with Rev. Wright than Barack Obama. He even sounds a bit like a domestic terrorist.

Palin and the “first dude” have been active in this suspected subversive organization as recently as six months ago.

Over the next thirty days or so we’ll be hearing more and more about the identity of Palin’s associates and whether or not she can afford to be bringing up old unsubstantiated stories, lies and gossip to damage the Obama campaign.

During  campaign speeches given over the weekend in California and Colorado, Palin mentions a recent article in the New York Times as the source for her criticism of Barack Obama. La Palin states:

Our opponent is someone who sees America as imperfect enough to pal around with terrorists who target their own country.

Palin conveniently omitted the part of the article that said Obama and Ayers were not friends. She even skimmed over the part that mentioned Senator Obama was only eight years old when Ayers was accused of terrorist activities. Not surprising to us is the fact she did not mention Obama denounced Ayers actions months ago.

Palin also made this slightly tinged with racist appeal statement:

“This is not a man who sees America like you and I see America. We see America as a force of good in this world. We see an America of exceptionalism .”

She’s right. The way  Senator Obama sees this country is quite different from the way John and Sarah see our nation.

Senator Obama has said on many occasions he sees a nation that has provided an opportunity for the son of an American woman from Kansas and a father from Kenya to be educated to become one of the best and the brightest this generation has to offer. He is one who uses his skills to help the less fortunate while presenting solutions to problems that face the majority of citizens. He is a willing public servant.

Can someone tell the Republican Party and candidates McCain and Palin we citizens know about being manipulated? After a long eight year nap the American electorate is awake now and very aware of the lies being told repeatedly. It is said if  you lie the lie often enough it will be perceived as the truth. We’re not as gullible  as we were in the selection of 2000 or the election of 2004.

We recognize Ms Palin is the official attack dog for the GOP ticket, taking on the traditional role of the veep candidate–smearing and lying about the opposition. She is true to the Republican tradition of telling lies, even poorly constructed lies, and repeating them ad nauseum. Sarah is described by some as Dick Cheney or Dumbya in a dress and lipstick.  She’s the new face of the GOP–and some people thought the party was over.

That is why we present to Sarah Palin the “Talking Dog Award”,  because she is a big Republican liar telling big Republican lies.

Biden struck a cord with us when he became emotional during last night’s veep debate as he described his experience of being a single parent.  We were sincerely and deeply touched as he told of his ordeal. We think many voters were moved by his story.

Following the death of his wife and daughter who both died in an auto crash, Joe was left with the responsibility to nurse back to good health the two sons who survived the Christmas holiday tradgedy. He committed himself to raise his sons. He travelled every night from Washington, D.C. to Delaware to be present in the lives of his children.

We often hear of men who do not take a role in the lives of their children. We hear complaints about men who are married who are utterly disinterested in the family they have helped to create.

We believe it should not take a tragic situation, like the one Joe experienced, to cause the men in our society to live up to their responsibilities.

We believe regardless of the situation, whether married,  never married, widowed or divorced the men must take part in the lives of the children whether they are male or female children. All children need to know and have a relationship with their father.

There are many more fathers bringing up their children without the benefit of a wife and mother than we may know.  Joe Biden is a man who knows politics, the law,  and about being a single parent.  We think he’ll be a good vice president.

In a message to his colleagues in the House of Representatives De Fazio quotes Simon Johnson, a former chief economist of the International Monetary Fund who said in the New York Times of Paulson’s plan, “Our view that this package, in a fundamental sense, will not solve the problem.”

Representative De Fazio then stated:

“We have credible alternatives to the Paulson/Bush $700 billion gamble.  William Isaac, the chairman of the FDIC during the previous worst financial crisis in the United States during the 1980s, believes Congress can address the current crisis with simple changes to Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) rules.  Mr. Isaac points out that while we face serious financial challenges today, many banks are still in good shape.  This allows Congress to take swift, uncomplicated steps to ensure the financial markets return to working order. After that, we can work to resolve the housing crisis and pass effective job stimulus”

A few McCain supporters believe as the moderator of tonight’s debate between candidates  Palin, the number two on the Republican ticket, and Senator Biden, the vice presidential candidate on the ticket with Senator Obama, Ifill can not be unbiased in her duties as moderator.
We believe Ifill will be no more or less unprofessional than Tom Brokaw who disclosed earlier this week his friendship with Senator McCain and the fact, according to Brokaw, the McCain campaign officials would not have permitted their candidate to participate in a third debate with Senator Obama if not for the fact Brokaw, McCain’s close personal friend, were not the moderator.

“We’re very lazy when we think about race in this country,” Ifill says. “We try to put it in a box. It’s Jesse versus Al, or Jesse and Al versus everyone else,” she says, referring to Jackson and Sharpton. “We love simplistic conflict. There’s a whole group of people who have Ivy League degrees and immense accomplishments who actually benefited from the things their parents were fighting for.”

“After a week of high-drama negotiations, Congress and Hank Paulson issued Bailout version 1.1, which is just the original Paulson pig with a lot of lipstick.

Republicans say the deal will be profitable for taxpayers, but they are lying – just as they did about the invasion of Iraq producing lower gas prices. It’s a lie because Paulson has full power to pay too much for the securities and he will because his real goal is a bailout of bank executives and shareholders with our money – a massive ($2,333 per person!) transfer of wealth from the poor and middle class to the rich.

Democrats say they got oversight, accountability, and limits on executive compensation but each of these provisions is so full of Republican-written loopholes that they are meaningless – just like all other restrictions imposed on the Bush Administration, from Iraq to wiretapping. And that’s before Bush simply negates any restrictions he doesn’t like with one of his unconstitutional (and hence impeachable) signing statements.

So our answer remains ABSOLUTELY NOT.

The House will vote on Monday and the Senate will vote on Wednesday. ”

John McCain had a decisive win tonight.  He collected the majority of the votes cast nationwide. He led Senator Obama by fifty-two percent to forty-eight percent.

He began celebrating immediately, but unfortunately that celebration was cut short when Joe Lieberman came over to whisper in his ear, “The election is not until tomorrow.” To which McCain said, “You mean we have to rig the voting machines all over again?”
” Well,  my friends,” JMack continued, “I still won tonight and I am confident I will win tomorrow. With God, electronics, and voting machines on my side I am sure to win even if I can’t open an email!”

“And it’s a good thing, too,” said the twin of incumbent George Bush. ” I had our vice presidential candidate, Sarah Palin, open my email to show me what was in my inbox, and all that was there were messages saying, ‘You Can Make Your Penis Larger’. ”

Governor Palin said, “We know that these messages are an attack against the senator from Black people.”

Media talking heads suggested McCain won the election on the wrong day. The McCain spokesperson pointed out the Bush-Gore election controversy lasted several weeks. With these voting machines  Senator McCain could win everyday. That’s what we call a decisive win!”

The ad, sponsored by Brave New PAC and Democracy For America, which is headed by Howard Dean’s brother, began airing on Thursday, September 25, 2008. The cable news network MSNBC has ceased broadcasting the political ad.

Voters deserve to have relevant facts in order to make an informed decision. We have allowed ourselves to be manipulated by the Main Stream Media for too many years. Watch and decide for yourself. Vote Tuesday, November 4th 2008!

All right ladies and gents how does this sound…it’s three o’clock in the morning the phone rings in the White House. The voice on the other line announces to the Commander in Chief the nation is faced with a foreign crisis, or domestic calamity…take your pick. The situation is dire and requires measured but immediate reasonable action. The response from the C-I-C is,
“I’d like to have a time out to think about this.”

Is this the kind of leadership we want?

After spending 35 of the last 60 months in Iraq patrolling in full battle dress, helping restore essential services and escorting supply convoys, the 3rd Infantry Division’s 1st Brigade Combat Team of the U.S. Army will be returning to the U.S.

On the face of it this sounds like good news, doesn’t it? Except for this very important fact:

Beginning Oct. 1 for 12 months, the 1st BCT will be under the day-to-day control of U.S. Army North, the Army service component of Northern Command, as an on-call federal response force for natural or manmade emergencies and disasters, including terrorist attacks.

This new mission marks the first time an active unit has been given a dedicated assignment to NorthCom, a joint command established in 2002 to provide command and control for federal homeland defense efforts and coordinate defense support of civil authorities.

Reports out of Michigan indicate the Macomb County GOP plans to use the list of foreclosures in the state to challenge the eligibility of voters in targeted areas.

Do not be fooled citizens. Michigan is not the only place where you can expect to see this method used to slow down, delay and cause confusion at the polling places. This technique will most likely be used all around the nation on Tuesday, November 4, 2008, Election Day in specifically targeted areas; the places hardest hit by foreclosures. The places where Black Americans who traditionally vote for Democrats, live .

The result of such challenges makes the line move slower, causes unnecessary delay and voters become frustrated and leave the polling place without casting a vote. On Election Day, Tuesday, November 4, 2008 make sure you give yourself enough time to exercise your right to vote.

Federal law does not prohibit citizens from voting because they are behind in their bills. Just because you are faced with losing your home does not mean you have lost your vote.

We join Project Vote in denouncing the use of foreclosure lists to challenge an individual’s right to vote. It is not legitimate to do so. Every U.S. citizen deserves the opportunity to exercise this most precious of American freedoms, especially the people most severely damaged by this financial mess.

Michigan law says challenges may be made at the polls if the challenger “knows or has good reason to suspect” a voter is ineligible. The Republican Michigan Secretary of State has clarified this to require challenges should be based on “reliable sources or means.” Republican challengers with only a list of foreclosure notices will have NO evidence or reliable source to suggest eligible voters have moved and are no longer eligible to vote.

In the mean time  United States House of Representatives Judiciary Committee called on U.S. Attorney General Michael Mukasey to launch a full-scale investigation into reports Michigan Republicans plan to use home foreclosure lists to challenge voters on Election Day. The committee also scheduled a hearing on the matter for Wednesday.

In a letter to Republican presidential candidate Sen. John McCain, released simultaneously, Democratic Rep. John Conyers Jr. of Detroit, chairman of the Judiciary Committee, asked McCain to denounce any efforts by the Republican Party to engage in voter suppression, including challenges based on a voter’s home foreclosure status. Conyers requested McCain direct his supporters to refrain from using the caging tactic.

McCain’s campaign announced the formation of  an Honest and Open Election Committee’ its mission is ” to ensure that every qualified citizen has the opportunity to vote in a fair and transparent manner.”A news release issued by the McCain campaign the Web site announced on September 15, “The committee will work with state and local election officials to anticipate, and where possible resolve in advance, problems likely to arise on Election Day.”…stay tuned folks, and buckle up for safety. It’s gonna be a bumpy ride.

Why should Wall Street get bailed out by me when I’m getting screwed?

Your congressional representative is in a position to demand from Wall Street certain conditions in return for the blank check. Here are a list of five suggestions from former Labor Secretary in the Clinton administration, Robert Reich:

“1. The government (i.e. taxpayers) gets an equity stake in every Wall Street financial company proportional to the amount of bad debt that company shoves onto the public. So when and if Wall Street shares rise, taxpayers are rewarded for accepting so much risk.

2. Wall Street executives and directors of Wall Street firms relinquish their current stock options and this year’s other forms of compensation, and agree to future compensation linked to a rolling five-year average of firm profitability. Why should taxpayers feather their already amply-feathered nests?

3. All Wall Street executives immediately cease making campaign contributions to any candidate for public office in this election cycle or next, all Wall Street PACs be closed, and Wall Street lobbyists curtail their activities unless specifically asked for information by policymakers. Why should taxpayers finance Wall Street’s out-sized political power – especially when that power is being exercised to get favorable terms from taxpayers?

4. Wall Street firms agree to comply with new regulations over disclosure, capital requirements, conflicts of interest, and market manipulation. The regulations will emerge in ninety days from a bi-partisan working group, to be convened immediately. After all, inadequate regulation and lack of oversight got us into this mess.

5. Wall Street agrees to give bankruptcy judges the authority to modify the terms of primary mortgages, so homeowners have a fighting chance to keep their homes. Why should distressed homeowners lose their homes when Wall Streeters receive taxpayer money that helps them keep their fancy ones?

Wall Streeters may not like these conditions. Well, you should tell them that the public doesn’t like the idea of bailing out Wall Street. So if Wall Street doesn’t accept these conditions, it doesn’t get the blank check.”

We concur wholeheartedly. No bailout for inept Wall Street money managers without specific conditions and proper oversight regulations. We’ve been around long enough to know for sure whenever we hear the words, “deregulation is good for consumers” we realize we need to hold on to our skivvies, ’cause we’re ripe for the rip-off.

If the proposed bill does not provide for the taxpayers, aka the government–that’s you and me, that’s us, to have an equity stake in every company we bail out. Reid should reject the proposal.If the taxpayers are shouldering the risk, the taxpayers should reap any eventual benefits.

Plus there’s the clause that reads:

“Decisions by the Secretary pursuant to the authority of this Act are non-reviewable and committed to agency discretion, and may not be reviewed by any court of law or any administrative agency.”

Talk about BOHICA

According to Robert Kuttner this is the bailout they got in the 30′s:

“…the Reconstruction Finance Corporation of the 1930s pumped a total of $35 billion into U.S. corporations and financial institutions, there was close government supervision and quid pro quos at every step of the way. Much of the time, the RFC became a preferred shareholder, and often appointed board members.

The Home Owners Loan Corporation, which eventually refinanced one in five mortgage loans, did not operate to bail out banks but to save homeowners.

And the Resolution Trust Corporation of the 1980s, created to mop up the damage of the first speculative mortgage meltdown, the S&L collapse, did not pump in money to rescue bad investments; it sorted out good assets from bad after the fact, and made sure to purge bad executives as well as bad loans. And all three of these historic cases of public recapitalization were done without suspending judicial review…”

Contact Harry Reid 1-888-426-0462.  Tell him to flush out the bad decision makers. Tell him we want regulations that make the CEOs give up their bonuses and special multi-million dollar perks when the companies under their guidance fail.

Tell Senator Reid we’re lookin’ for accountability. We’re not lookin’ to give BushCo a blank check for this mess they’ve been in charge of.

When you speak to Harry’s office personnel let them know you agree with former Secretary of Labor Robert Reich’s idea of accountability through regulation.

If we can not get as good a deal as our grandparents got in the 1930s then let those greedy bunglers on Wall Street go door-to-door to private investors to raise the money they need for a bailout.

These ballots are only being sent out in “purple states” otherwise known as swing states. This is a big deal. This practice is called voter caging.  It is a huge problem.“Caging” is a term from the direct mail marketing industry. It is a technique used to manipulate names to make a useful mailing list of potential buyers of goods or services.

In politics it is way to suppress the vote. For more information see Caging List as described in detail here.

The McCain campaign is stealing this election as we speak.  Please get this information out to as many people as you can. Tell anyone you know who has received one of these ballots they need to contact their city election clerk or the supervisor of elections immediately.

This is the low down dirty we’ve come to expect during this campaign season and certain campaigners do not wish to disappoint.

Here’s what Richard Cohen of the Washington Post says his recent article
“The Ugly New McCain” :

“… the John McCain of old is unrecognizable. He has become the sort of politician he once despised. ”

It’s kinda sad to know,now having irrefutable proof the “Straight Talk Express is history.
Cohen points out the moment of McCain’s abasement came during an interview last week, when one of the co-hosts, Joy Behar, took McCain to task for some of the ads his campaign has been running. One deliberately characterized Senator Obama’s  lipstick on a pig  remark as reference to female Governor Sarah Palin. As we all know by now good old John McCain had used the very same  Americanism  himself to describe a program idea from Democrat Hillary Clinton. Behar noted another McCain ad asserted Obama supports teaching sex education to kindergarten students.

“We know those two ads are untrue,” Behar said. “They are lies.” Rather than back off and disavow the ads John McCain responded with this snappy retort:

“Actually, they are not lies.”

Actually, they are lies Mr. Senator from Arizona. Interesting how he’s pretending they are not lies. Maybe he’s been out in the sun too long? He’s lying to himself about the lies that have been told. That is just sad.

It was at this point in the interview  the Republican candidate was really sounding to me like one of the characters in the popular television sitcom “It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia”, a tv program that highlights the adventures of some really stupid people who own a drinkling establishment in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
Cohen goes on to slam McCain’s choice for veep by saying it is an:

“…opportunistic and irresponsible choice of Sarah Palin as his political heir — the person in whose hands he would leave the country — is a form of personal treason, a betrayal of all he once stood for. Palin, no matter what her other attributes, is shockingly unprepared to become president. McCain knows that. He means to win, which is all right; he means to win at all costs, which is not. ”

Other GOP conservatives like Ross Douthat, and David Brooks have come out against McCain’s actions now that the lead sleazy guy-Rove, has set the tone making it okay to rough up McCain for his choice for number two and for being super unethical in this campaign.

We agree with David Brooks’ conclusion:

“Sarah Palin has many virtues. If you wanted someone to destroy a corrupt establishment, she’d be your woman. But the constructive act of governance is another matter. She has not been engaged in national issues, does not have a repertoire of historic patterns and, like President Bush, she seems to compensate for her lack of experience with brashness and excessive decisiveness.”

Bob Brown,  is a graduate of the University of Florida; he is an avid supporter of Illinois Democrat Senator Barack Obama’s presidential campaign, and according to his news release he is “the first to officially create a dance for a presidential candidate” as well as for those who support candidate Obama.

When Brown heard that Senator Barack Obama is the Democrats choice he says,  “I wanted to contribute to his campaign….. Some people are good at raising money, some people hold signs, but me, I’m a rap artist.” In June 2008 he created a new dance called “The Obama Dance” .

As you watch the video you’ll see and hear reference to the term “N.I.C”…it does not mean the pejorative “N” so often used in the Rap or  Hip-hop genres, in this rhyme it stands for “NEXT In Charge”. Don’t get it twisted folks. This man is a dedicated, dignified supporter of Senator Obama using the best of contemporary musical styling.

We predict this new dance move–actual political choreography, will be sweeping the nation as we head toward election day on Tuesday, November 4th 2008. So check out the video and learn to do The Obama Dance..it’s fun, it’s historic, it’s innovative and exciting.

An Alaska newspaper reports on a letter from Colberg to state Senator Hollis French, the Democrat overseeing the investigation, in which Colberg asked  subpoenas in the TROOPERGATE matter be withdrawn. Colberg also said the employees would refuse to appear unless either the full state Senate or the entire Legislature votes to compel their testimony.

It’s also been reported in Newsweek McCain’s campaign has sent former U.S. Attorney Edward O’Callaghan to manage the aggressive legal strategy to stop the state’s investigation. Last week in Anchorage O’Callaghan said at a McCain campaign news conference,  Palin is ‘unlikely to cooperate’ with an Alaskan legislative inquiry into Monegan’s firing because it had been ‘tainted’ by politics. Hear the sound of flip=flopin’… O’Callaghan’s remark appears to contradict a previous vow, expressed by Palin’s official gubernatorial spokesman on July 28; at that time the public was told Palin “will fully cooperate” with an investigation into the matter.

We think this is a very smart move on the part of the Republican campaign. The electorate gets a pre-view of the kind of government we can expect to have before they come into power.  It’s Nixonian, GWB, Cheney and Rove style secrecy in one convenient package.

The handwriting is on the wall, America. If it isn’t read now there will be much sadness and weeping later.

This just in: The DNC has a clock running. The first tells us how long it’s been since J Mack’s last news conference. The second tells us how long we’ve been waiting since Sarah’s selection and her first news conference.

We do not believe she’ll be responding to questions from the news organizations until the matter of TROOPERGATE has been successfully squelched.  (See next post)

Demos, the name sounds a lot like an abbreviation of Democrats,  according to their web site, “is a non-partisan public policy research and advocacy organization. Headquartered in New York City, Demos works with advocates and policymakers around the country in pursuit of four overarching goals: a more equitable economy; a vibrant and inclusive democracy; an empowered public sector that works for the common good; and responsible U.S. engagement in an interdependent world.”

When the guest, Kuttner, described the state of the U.S.  economy as “dire”, a term Hannity found offensive, Hannity popped his cork and began to behave like all the pro-Repuglican talking heads do in order to present the party line. We’ve seen this before with Hannity, O’ Reilly and that blond reality show contestant cum talking head, who lives and breathes everything GOP,  on ABC’s The View daytime show. Reliable sources tell us producer Bill Geddie, aka The View Master, loves the racist blond parrot.

When they go on the attack they usually over talk, insult and interrupt the person who may be expressing a viewpoint different than the one the Repuglicans have instructed their broadcast minions to promote. We say the person “may” have a different opinion because often we are not permitted to hear a civil discussion and the agent for slime does not know if the person is making valid point or not because his/her goal is to talk up the Repuglican version of reality without listening or allowing the completion of a thought. Take a look at this video to see the technique in action.

We’re tired of this kind of reporting. We’re tired of these kinds of news interview programs. There was a time  when reporters/interviwers asked the questions  Jane and John Q. Public would ask if they were face to face with the candidates. We are not getting information, news that we can use to make informed decisions. We’re getting propaganda. We don’t want propaganda. We want the facts and on the facts. We do not want stories that are filtered, distilled twisted or spun to suit the administration’s purpose. After nearly eight years of being manipulated in this way we’re fed up with the MSM and the government thinking we’re too stupid to see “the man behind the curtain”. We just want the facts. We can handle the truth. We’ve had enough of histrionics and distractions and the lies. Remember the joke about the talking dog?

He’s good looking…Not! He’s dashing…Not. Witty…Not!

Comical…Not intentionally. Intelligent…Not.

What single quality has he got? He’s white. That’s reassuring. This is the man whose goofy smile looks to us like the axe murderer’s just before he gets you, or the  very toothy grin of the late Bela Lugosi when he played the starring role of Count Dracula in the old vampire films.

He wouldn’t even make a good Santa Claus, though he looks quite like the Grinch, especially with the green backdrop. How would you like to wake up and look at his face?

Do you think he could comfort your grandchildren without scaring them every time? If he were a teacher wouldn’t you be afraid he’s the dude in the raincoat? In fact he’s the dude in the raincoat if you saw him in an alley.  Just what has he got goin’ for him? Oh yeah, he’s not black.

It has to be that, because in this country of 300 million there’s gotta be a better white man with  more desirable personal qualities than him.

How ironic the party whose candidate appears to be woefully unarmed for this fight has chosen a weapon their guy does not have in his arsenal.

Let us remember this is an election campaign. Candidates are allowed to reference their opponent’s platform issues, proposals,  or campaign ideas in a way the public can understand; fortunately there has been a call for debating the issues rather than making personal attacks on the candidates, and their families.  This is still an election campaign.

Incidentally the Jack Mack proponents have not really begun to address the heart of the matter, which is not which animal wears lipstick and still looks like whatever animal it is.

A McCain spokesman says,  “Barack Obama can’t campaign with schoolyard insults and then try to claim outrage at the tone of the campaign. His talk of new politics is as empty as his campaign trail promises, and his record of bucking his party and reaching across the aisle simply doesn’t exist.” Although in some circles this is considered a snappy retort. We see it as a continuation of weak, lame, juvenile distortion and deliberate distraction from the real issues.

Again Senator Obama,”I want to address the latest made-up controversy by the John McCain campaign. What their campaign has done this morning is the same game that has made people sick and tired of politics in this country. They seize on an innocent remark, throw out an outrageous ad because they know it is catnip for the media. It would be funny except for the news media decided that was the lead story yesterday. The McCain campaign would much rather have a story about phony and foolish diversion than about the future.”

The issue is whether or not the Republican candidate can convince the public he will not continue the failed policies of the current administration. Focus people…media moguls, producers, broadcast executives, please focus on providing the electorate with news we can use! Let us not lose sight of the goal. We need change. We need change of party, change of heart, change of administration and a new direction for this nation. And the way to do that is to have sufficient facts to make an informed decision on November 4th election day.

We think Barack Obama’s answers to the attempts at “swift-boating” his candidacy, by offering an immediate response to get us back on track is appropriate. We think it’s ironic that the “straight talk”, think Harry S. Truman, is coming from the Democrats, Obama and Biden, when it was Jack Mack who proclaimed himself sometime ago as the “straight talkin’ guy”, with the now defunct  bus called the “Straight Talk Express” .  In fact we noticed as have many of you, that Jack Mack and the Republicans are trying, very unconvincingly, to take over the change description.

To the Republicans we say, “Stick to the topic. No smoke and no mirrors.” To the Democrats we say, “Continue to turn up the heat.” In other words, “Give’em hell!”

“Enough. I don’t care what they say about me. But I love this country too much to let them take over another election with lies, phony outrage and swiftboat politics. Enough is enough. These are serious times and they call for a serious debate about where we need to take the nation. We can’t take another four years that were like the last eight. Spare me the phony outrage. Spare me the phony talk about change. We have real problems in this country right now and the American people are looking to us for answers. Not distractions, not diversions not manipulations they are looking for real answers. That’s the type of debate I attempt to have.”

Senator John McCain what were you thinking when you selected Governor Sarah Palin as your choice for veep? Were you thinking at all?

Sure, it’s a real clever strategy to pick a female for the number two slot on the Republican ticket. It’s a decision that could have worked very well…. if you had chosen the right woman.Don’t get it twisted Mr. Senator from Arizona. We voting females are not as dumb as you may think. We are, however, in the words of actress Jamie Lee Curtis, “gullible to fear, lies, misinformation and calculated deceit.”

It really does not matter that the party faithful love your choice. Many of them are not too bright either, which partly explains how  President Dumbya was elected for two terms.

John McCain could have chosen Kay Bailey Hutchison the first female Republican to represent Texas in the U.S. Senate. Or Jack Mack you could have chosen Olympia Snowe, the senior Republican senator from Maine.  Both of these female senators have more experience and appear to be more capable than this sports reader-turned hockey-mom/pit bull with lipstick who knows  much about nothing and even less about everything. (Has anyone told the candidate what the vice president’s duties are?)

Olympia Snowe serves on the  Senate Armed Services Committee. She chairs its sea power subcommittee, which oversees the Navy and Marine Corps. I think these are good qualifications for the next vice president. According to a wikipedia entry about Snowe in 2001, she became the first Republican woman to secure a full-term seat on the Senate Finance Committee. Hmmm the current candidate for vice president doesn’t seem to know very much about finance, especially as pertains to the housing mortgage industry.

Snowe also seems more conciliatory in her dealings with the loyal opposition. So much so that hard line conservatives attack her as being a Republican in name only.

On the other hand, good old Jack Mack could have selected  Senator Kay Bailey Hutchison who is the most senior of female Republican senators. She was elected to office in 1993. Her name was among those promoted to Jack Mack as a vice presidential candidate to balance the ticket; the thinking was a conservative female from the southwest would attract feminists’ votes on election day.

In an article about Hutchison in wikipedia it is stated she “voted against prohibiting oil leasing in Alaska’s Arctic National Wildlife Refuge, and has supported legislation promoting drilling in the refuge in 2002 and 2003. In 2005 she also voted against including oil and gas smokestacks in the Environmental Protection Agency’s mercury regulations.”  Sounds to me like she paid her dues as a Senate Republican.

I’m  a Republican, one of those rare birds, a female Black Republican.  I am insulted by the Senator from Arizona’s choice of a vicious, less accomplished, near-do-well in a dress to try to capture my vote.

We’ve had nearly eight years of pitifully poor executive performance by a pathetic representative of the GOP. Now we’re expected to cast our vote for more of the same? You want we should vote for old John McCain and Dick Cheney in a dress?

This ticket has the ghost of Ronald Reagan–in the older candidate and the personage of mean Dick Cheney in the veep candidate. Both Jack Mack and his fly-girl are short on intelligence.  Americans have already experienced a presidential administration headed by a person who is not as smart as I am. Why would I  want to have a pair of stupid people leading my country for another four maybe eight years?

The thought is like a terrible nightmare. After eight years of being manipulated by the stupid people in charge, the more stupid people want a shot at governing the country.  I’m thinkin’ this ain’t gonna fly. As I suck my teeth and roll my eyes,  I’m prayin’ the American electorate will not continue to make the same poor choices as they’ve made in the past two elections with the expectation of getting different results. That would be insanity!

Dr. Joyce Hamilton Henry, the Director of the ACLU Foundation, Central Florida Region, added that “We must remember that these inmates have been charged, but not convicted of any crime. Their dignity as well as mental health must be respected and maintained.”

 The American Civil Liberties Union is a national organization, founded in 1920, with 53 locally based affiliates and associated chapters. The group works through litigation, legislation, and community education in order to successfully carry out its mission to defend and preserve the individual rights and liberties guaranteed to every person in this country by the Constitution and laws of the United States. 

The ACLU claims more than a half million members nationwide with officials reporting an increase in membership of 20 percent the direct result of the debate concerning an acceptable balance of civil liberties and security including the passage of the USA PATRIOT Act following the attacks of September 11, 2001.
 
Lawsuits brought by the ACLU have influenced the development of sound Constitutional law. The ACLU provides legal assistance in cases in which it considers civil liberties to be at risk.

We did not know the institution of marriage is in trouble to the point of needing protection by adding another amendment to our federal constitution to define it. To that end we make the following ridiculous, irreverent proposal. We believe ours is as preposterous as the actual proposed amendment:

In so far as a woman is a female, and the natural partner of a man in a marriage, and insofar as the term chick is commonly used to refer to woman, and furthermore a chick is female and hence the natural partner of a man in marriage, we propose it is lawful to marry a chick hence a chicken because chickens are female- and how can you prove a chicken is not a woman?

In so far as all women are not necessarily ladies but all mature females are women, therefore a chicken is too.

We additionally amend and advocate for ewes and nanny goats as members of the female species. We also advocate that pussies be banned from marriage because they have a disruptive effect on chickens.

Furthermore, as we also know that chicks is just an abbreviation for chickens- and while not all chicks are ladies, most chicks are women.

All in favor signify by saying “Aye!” , “Meow” or you may cluck like a chicken.

Geez two weeks to contemplate the obvious? What was she thinking? We’re very happy and glad to know she heeded the advice of more reasonable representatives in her party. To have as your counsel former presidents such as Carter, Clinton, to whom she is married, entrepreneur, founder BET Robert Johnson, Charlie Rangel and long time members of the senate and the house to suggest and advise the proper protocol for these political matters and to ignore their suggestions when you’re the loser, is a recipe for decimating your political future for certain. Say good-bye to becoming veep or Majority Leader in the Senate.

We also have a different take on the historical significance of HRC’s run for the nomination…wasn’t there another woman who ran for the nomination in a major party’s primary for POTUS? Didn’t a school teacher from New York who had a seat in the House run for POTUS long before we’d ever heard of Bill Clinton’s wife? Until sixteen months ago Shirley Chisholm was the first woman to run for the presidential nomination from a major political party.

Is this another example of revisionist history…Hillary-style ? Is this a case of more HRC “I-Me-I”speak? You know where she says something that coming from any other speaker might sound humble but from her it’s more self aggrandizing talk. How she appreciates the courage of the women who came before her, but she never names them…of course she could name her BGF Geraldine Ferraro, but to name her would mean she’d be compelled to name the late Congresswoman Shirley Chisholm from New York, too. Another something to make you say, “Hmmm….”

This wedding took place more than one hundred years ago. Alice and Nicholas…Alice Roosevelt, Theodore’s daughter.

The couple pictured here married just a few weeks before her father was officially installed as president.  It was not an official White House wedding. This is a picture of them during their engagement at his sister’s wedding in Pennsylvania. When they did marry some newspaper editors chose the headline “Nixon Marries Eisenhower ” because he is the grandson of the former president and she is the daughter of Richard Nixon who had been Ike’s veep for eight years.

In 1967 this couple added a touch of USMC class to their Christmas season White House wedding ceremony. Outstanding! That’s former Virginia governor and former Senator from Virginia Charles Robb and daughter of President Lyndon Johnson and h is wife Lady Bird Johnson, Lynda Bird Johnson.

During August of 1966 Lynda Bird caught the bride’s bouquet at her sister’s, Luci Baines Johnson, wedding to Patrick Nugent…and the view from above looks as though this bouquet toss was a set up. Note the pink gowns and veils worn by the bridesmaids; the maid of honor wore pale pink and the bride in her travel outfit wore pink, as she tosses the bouquet to her sister.

The reception pictures show the size of the cake..it’s really big! That’s a Texas style weddin’ cake.

It’s 1971 and another Nixon daughter marries. Tricia Nixon married Edward Cox at the White House in the romantic Rose Garden.

2008 Jenna Bush and her man, Henry Hager, get hitched on the ranch in Crawford, Texas earlier this month.

Liz Trotta, Senator Hillary Clinton, Geraldine Ferraro, Jeremiah Wright and others have made it clear we need to have an intelligent, open, mature and frank discussion about race in America. Senator Barack Obama’s campaign for his party’s nomination to run for president emphasizes how very necessary it is to have this dialogue for understanding.

The American electorate must unify itself in order to protect itself from proponents of
true capitalism–that would be capitalism like your great grandparents experienced it. Politicians like Dick Cheney and others would have us live as Americans did when the other Roosevelt was president, not Franklin D., but Theodore.

Comments like the ones made by Trotta or Clinton or Ferraro have no place in our society. Jokes about assisnation are inappropriate and absolutely unacceptable. Some would saysome of these individuals misspoke and their apology for such remarks should be accepted. We think otherwise. Trotta should be fired. Clinton and Ferraro should be put on ignore. We’re amazed these old broads have so much to say with their feet so firmly planted in their mouths! Maybe a little hot sauce is in order here?

Hillary Clinton started this firestorm with talk of assisnation of a United States senator who just happens to be your opponent. That comment was no mistake. Women whom we presumed would be more circumspect have followed her example. They have taken the opportunity to openly express their racist feelings with little consequence for their actions. It’s an ugly, vicious trend. It should end right now.

This news comes following the recent announcement by American Airlines to charge a $15 fee for the first piece of checked baggage on domestic flights.

“I purchase a ticket to fly to a city. I purchase a pass to get off the plane, too?? This is an outrage!” says Bob F. Flyer who frequently flies around the country for business.

“I welcome the opportunity to pay to get off any flight, especially in Chicago.  I’ve spent many hours waiting on the tarmac to deplane and take ground transportation to my business appointments.” That response from Sally S. Travellier who flies the business class flights for her work as an efficiency expert for the federal government.

What can we expect next? Pay toilets on airplanes?

Women in this country have been holding positions of leadership in their homes, schools, churches, communities and in their chosen executive careers for many years.

Women have been showing their competence or lack thereof in the boardrooms throughout the years on par with men. There are just as many competent and incompetent females as CEOs of major corporations as there are competent and incompetent men in the same positions all over America. The American feminist movement has provided women of this country the opportunity to display their capabilities as being equal with men in business. It has also afforded female executives the opportunity to emulate the not so desireable business characteristics of many of those who preceded them.

The question facing the American electorate today is not whether or not this ship ‘o’ state is ready to have a woman at its helm, we believe it is ready. The problem is this particular woman, Senator Shrillary Rodham Clinton of New York…..er, uh , we mean Hillary Rodham Clinton.

She with her non-presidential presentation, her shrewish voice and her lyin’ ways is not presidential. We don’t consider Senator Clinton, despite her vast experience as First Lady, which by the way does not translate into qualifications to be the President of the United States, a “good fit right now.” In fact we’d almost go as far as saying anyone but Clinton, if we were not afraid we’d end up with John McCain as president of our country.

Handing over the nomination to Clinton reduces this every four year ritual to nothing more than a beauty pageant. It would trivialize the process for the selection of our presidents. To accept Mrs. Clinton’s statements of being qualified to be president because her husband was the president is the same as having your surgeon’s wife perform the procedure on you when she has never studied medicine and has no medical training whatsoever. Or as someone put it, “It would follow that Hillary Clinton is as qualified to be president as Robin Givens was to be the Heavy Weight Champion of the World, because she was married to Mike Tyson.”

Yes, we firmly support a female for president, and some day we may have an appropriately qualified president of the female gender leading our nation. Simply stated, Hillary Rodham Clinton is not the one.

Our readers say the reporters at the news conference did not ask the right questions….and we wholeheartedly agree! They should have asked, “Are you now doing or have you ever done any married women?” “Have you had an affair with the wife of anyone in this room? Have you had an affair with anyone in this room?” “Do you only do women or do you do both? You never know now-a-days.” “Does your wife only do men or does she do both?” “Were you present when she was doin’ someone else? Or was she there when you were doin’ someone else?” “Were there any three-somes, four-somes, five-somes…orgies? Were any animals, like sheep or dogs or chickens involved?” “If there were any chickens, how many eggs did they lay?”

Just for the record we want it known the chickens weren’t the only ones that got laid. We think these questions are as ridiculous as is the entire incident of the governor’s full open disclosure. As we said before it just’s TMI–Too Much Information!

We’ve been remiss in our coverage of Paul. We’ve mimicked the media conglomerates by focusing, albeit sporadically, on the front runners on both sides. If you do not know him we offer this video as an opportunity to hear what he says on the issues that should mean the most to American voters.

Thank you Henry. I have a few things to say about David Paterson, New York state’s new governor. By now most everyone knows the former New York Democrat governor Eliot Spitzer, a former state attorney general, was forced to leave this venerated position because of the misappropriation of government money to fund his association with a very high-price prostitution ring. There was also something about transferring large sums of money from his accounts to their or vice-versa. No matter he resigned when pressure was applied by the loyal opposition. The state’s Republicans said to leave or face impeachment proceedings.

So the disgraced Spitzer resigns and the mantel of governor falls upon the shoulders of David Paterson who was chosen in last fall’s election as Lieutenant Governor of the state . He was sworn in earlier this year as Lieutenant Governor right along side the now blemished philanderer Spitzer.

Just as the voters of New York state were recovering from being confronted with the news of Spitzer’s activities, and sighing with relief that their legislative representatives would not have to endure long drawn out impeachment sessions the newly sworn governor, Paterson, Spitzer’s successor, holds a news conference with his loyal wife by his side to announce his inappropriate behavior within his marriage.

Although many people in New York, and around the nation, are proud of the fact a legally blind black man has attained this high level of office, many people are not pleased by his recent disclosures of drug use when a younger man or extra-marital affairs he had; including his wife in these adulterous activities, presumably she had affairs separate from his, does not justify nor make his story play any better anywhere in the U.S.

Even though some people are relieved to know Governor Paterson is not a gay man, as the former governor of New Jersey admitted when pressured by a former lover with the possibility of blackmail, I think this is just too much information. TMI! Cheating is cheating, whether in a straight affair or homosexual affair. Cheating is unacceptable when both parties are dedicated and committed to one another.

Imagine what would happen if anyone of us received a recent promotion at our job. Let’s say you’ve been elevated from second in command to head of the whole entire operation. Once you’ve signed the deal, and you are assured you have the job you go to your boss, in the case of Paterson the people of New York state, and you begin to expose, and disclose every impropriety you’ve ever committed, whether business related, social or personal. Too much information I say!

Anyone else would be fired, terminated, booted out, dismissed with the result being unemployment for having the brass to make such disclosures.

Yes, I understand he was trying to ward off any investigations by the opposition or inquisite by some nefarious anti-blind-anti-black-governors-in-New-York-state; or even attempts by spurned lovers. He admits to having affairs with several women, including one who currently works in state government, though he confesses he was not her immediate supervisor. Wow! I’m real glad to know that.

The decision to disclose incidents involving personal choice is foolish.  This is clearly a case of too much Jerry Springer. What ever happened to calmly stating, “No comment” when asked by some member of the media questions of a personal nature? Everyone does not need to know everything. Private information should remain just that.  Full disclosure is not a requirement.  I think it is insulting to the people who voted for Paterson. I think he should be dismissed.

Have we in America, in New York, sunken to the depths of such depravity where we’ll just have anyone as the leader? Oh yeah we have George Walker Bush as our president.

It has been 40 years since the shocking news of the assasination of one of America’s great leaders quickly spread around the world.

 We describe the late Dr. King as one of the greatest leaders of the last century.

He was able to achieve much during his brief time on this planet. He was able to inspire generations of Americans to be the very best they can without regard of color but always with emphasis on quality character.

The victories he won as an activist in the battles he waged for social justice, education and employment in America resulted in a better life for all with benefits to ALL Americans.

We joyously celebrate his life and his contribution. His legacy as the conscience that reminds this nation to live up to its written obligation of providing liberty and justice for all.

The Cowboys, a group of eleven men with two Leningrad Ladies present songs,  described as  “somewhat influenced by polka and progressive rock, and performed in English, with themes such as ‘vodka’, ‘tractors’, ‘rockets’, and ‘Genghis Khan’, as well as folkloric Russian songs, rock and roll ballads and covers from bands as diverse as The Beatles, Led Zeppelin, and Lynyrd Skynyrd, all with lots of humour.”

The Red Army Choir (Choir Aleksandrov) is an ensemble that served as the official musical performing army choir of the former Soviet Union’s Red Army. The choir is made up of a male choir, an orchestra, and a dance ensemble. They perform songs  ranging from Russian folk tunes to Russian Church hymns, operatic arias and popular music.

The Red Army Choir is known for its  participation in Roger Waters’ The Wall concert  which celebrated the fall of the Berlin Wall. During the concert the choir performed the anti-war song “Bring the Boys Back Home”.

Despite the collapse of the Soviet Union, the Red Army Choir continues performing, and entertaining audiences both inside and outside Russia.

Sinbad says the fact that he went on the trip belies the fact there was any danger.

In fact he goes on to say: “”I think the only ‘red-phone’ moment was: ‘Do we eat here or at the next place.’ ”

We think HRC has exaggerated her Bosnia experience..kinda like a fish-story from a fishwife. After all Clinton and her campaign advisers are asking the voting public to suspend willful disbelief in order to accept her time in the White House as the wife of the president as the prerequisite for being President of the United States.
According to Sinbad: “I never felt that I was in a dangerous position. I never felt being in a sense of peril, or ‘Oh, God, I hope I’m going to be OK when I get out of this helicopter or when I get out of his tank.’ ”

You decide. We think the idea of the First Lady being in actual danger is preposterous. News accounts from the time describe the scene as a”potential combat zone”. Note the word “potential” which is defined as possible, as opposed to actual. Let’s put a mark in the deceiver column for this tale from HRC.
We understand this is clearly a case of he said-she said, and given the fact Sinbad is a comedian prone to exaggeration for comedic purposes and considering the fact Mrs. Clinton in her audacious attempt to convince us that she is Eleanor Roosevelt reincarnated times ten, which for us is a gross exaggeration of her role as First Lady, we tend to believe the comedian. In this case he’s the professional not HRC!

Pay attention citizens. Don’t let this happen.

What is interesting to note about the Spitzer matter, aka “Client Number 9″ is that
Eliot Spitzer’s crime is ranked among the “low” type.  It’s not a capitol crime such as homicide. It’s not in the same category as treason. We have not seen a constitutional amendment that bars public officials from having illicit affairs with hookers, call girls, prostitues, cabana boy toys, hoochies, senate pages, interns or whatever you wish to call them. We know of no state constitution which bars closet homosexuals from office, yet when Democrat Jim McGreevey was found to be less than forthright about his personal sexual preference, something we believe his wife knew about, the loyal opposition began to call for his ouster. The incidence of the scandal surrounding Eliot Spitzer, who is also a Democrat, has brought New York State Republicans back to the capital to call for his removal from office. Charges of impeachment have been on the agenda all week long…because the man committed a “low” crime.

If we Americans are so intolerant of “low” crime behavior from our leaders, the question begs to be asked “Why have we not tossed Dubya and crew out on their well-padded-with-crooked-money bottoms for their high crimes…crimes too many to list here?” How is it that the vice president gets to claim he’s not part of the administration when it is convenient for him to do so? What’s more we accept it.

Why is it when the Republicans threaten to impeach a Democrat, whether in the White House or in the state house or in the city hall, Democrats go runnin’ and hidin’ from the citizen cat calls that say, “Throw the bum outta there!” But when Democrats such as Senator Wexler of Florida announce our top leaders, their advisors and aides must be accountable for their actions, as in answer a subpoena from the United States House of Representatives by appearing before the congress, and those same presidential associates ignore the congressional order to answer questions because the president said to do so, citizens simply go about their daily routine as if all is really right with the nation because GWB is in power.

We think Americans have become too tolerant of abominations like blowing citizens and families of other countries to pieces, and too intolerant of what should be considered private sexual behaviours. We become publically upset about “private sex” and privately accepting of torture, dismemberment, disfiguration, mass killings–our own soldiers and the citizens of the other countries, chemical weapons, destruction of another country, destruction of the infrastruction of another country, hunger, deprivation and misappropriation of billions of funds which could help our own citizens out of hunger and want.

Americans have little desire to do what is right, while strongly possessing the desire to tell others how they should live–which really is none of their business.

 When it comes to moral: the so called moral side takes the point of view that they should be able to tell you how to live–even when it does not impact on them personally, and the “immoral side” takes the point of view that they should be able to live their life however they want to so long as it does not harm you or anyone else.

Unfortunately it then devolves into the moral side trying to prove your “private behaviour” could negatively impact either their children or pure citizens. Meanwhile the moral side also endorses “public behaviour” such as war, killing and misappropriation of funds, and the so called liberal or not moral side does not have the courage to question or repudiate these “public behaviours” which inarguably damage people of our own and other countries.

 When it comes to war or fighting we only have a desire to fight the easy fights on other peoples’ s turf–telling them how they’re supposed to live, like the fights in Afghanistan or Iraq… which especially suits us when the majority of our population doesn’t actually have to be in the fight, but can santimoniously reproach and disapprove what is happening in another country.

In the matter of calling the president , vice president and their minions to account Americans have no stomach for it. When it comes to America, Americans would rather watch reality television, television programming which everyone knows is  scripted to appear real. A man eating worms or swimming in a vat of raw eggs or whatever they do on these programs to win a bag full of money comparable to only one tenth the amount of money the advertisiers make from the program is far more engaging to Americans than getting a dunderheaded-prince-idiot responsible for the deaths of thousands, as well as dismemberment, disfiguration, and starvation, out of office.

 Who cares what happens to other people in other countries, whether they live or die, so long as we get to tell them what to do?

We’ve got great leadership choices. We can choose as our future leader either the albino Buckie Beaver or the smiling Mickey Mouse. On a bad day we might even end up with Mr. PotatoHead bland, boring and shriveling. Besides the worst part of Dumya’s reign is over. He’ll be gone from office soon…or will he?

The senator died at his home in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. The  cause of death has not been disclosed.

Metzenbaum, a former labor lawyer who following his 1995 retirement from the senate, became the head of the Consumer Federation of America.

Metzenbaum grew up poor, but claimed he was ”born knowing how to make money”. He was one of the founders of APCOA, the biggest parking lot company in the world. He along with Ted Bonda began one of the nation’s  first auto rental agencies, today known as  Avis.

Though Howard Metzenbaum boasted of his ability to take advantage of tax loopholes he worked to close loopholes for the rich

A master of the rules and a constant presence in the often-vacant chamber, Metzenbaum posted a legislative aide to scout for last minute amendments or hastily scheduled floor action on single-interest bills.  In one year it is estimated he saved tax payers at minimum $10 billion because of his ability to block wasteful legislation.

Among the accomplishments for which he will be remembered is his role as the Senate’s prime sponsor of the Brady Act, seeking a waiting period for handgun purchases. 

Metzenbaum is survived by his wife, Shirley, and four daughters.  He was an American original.
 
 

Governor Spitzer has been secluded from the media as he is said to be developing a resignation plan. We’re wondering if the former governor of New Jersey, Jim McGreevey is making suggestions to aid Spitzer in his plans to leave office ?

Let this be a lesson to future politicos…we Americans can hardly stomach a sinner. We absolutely can not tolerate a deceiver and a hypocrite…so have we not done something about George Bush??

Another incorrect and extremely untrue statement is that Senator Obama does not know the lyrics to the national anthem, “The Star Spangled Banner”. Question: How many of you reading this sentence know the words to the song? We are certain he knows the words and will sing it if asked to do so. Maybe he can’t carry a tune. Perhaps he is tone deaf and sings softly to himself. This is an action we think is very polite and done in consideration of others who are not tone deaf.

We hope this is a successful effort to stop a deliberate, systematic attack which only generates silly rumors about Obama. It’s mudslinging at it’s worst.

HRC says she has sympathy for her opponent becauser she herself has been the subject of many terrible rumors. She has been the object of idle gossip and chatter.
Clearly it is her experience that tells us she would know just what to do to harm another using the same sleazy low down technique practiced by our incumbent president. Repeat an untrue statement about your opponent often enough and the stupid people will begin to believe it; even some of the voters believed to be savvy and intelligent will begin to believe a lie if it is told with frequency. Remember the lies about who committed 9-1-1 or the big tale about weapons of mass destruction (WMDs)? Or those multi-color alerts for impending terror attacks?

If you hear someone speaking of things about any candidate in terms that are patently implausible, do not listen, even if it’s one of the television pundits or officious talking heads. You can’t believe everything you see on television. Do your nation a favor. Pass along this rumor busting article to as many eligible voters as you can.

“Your vote will decide who answers that call,” the voice says. “Whether it’s someone who already knows the world’s leaders, knows the military — someone tested and ready to lead in a dangerous world.”

It ends with an image of Clinton on the telephone as the announcer reprises the line, “It’s 3 a.m. and your children are safe and asleep,” and we hear Hillary Rodham Clinton as she says:

“Bill? Bill ! Is that you Bill? I’ve been waiting up all night for you! Where are you? Who’s that bimbo in the background? I can’t sleep because you’re out all night. I can’t think because you’re never here…”

“I was out carousing with some of the boys and well, er, uh…”
“Doesn’t sound like some of the boys to me. ”
“Well SugarLips some of the boys met some of the girls… and, um, I, ah …”
“You know how it is when you’re out, I can’t think! Are you in jail?”
“No, Hillary. I am not in jail.”
“You’re girlfriends keep callin’ me up! Do you know how upsetting that is? Why did you give them the presidential number?”
“I didn’t. They must have lifted it from my cell.”
Voiceover announcer as we see a single view of Senator Clinton with phone to her ear, then split screen adding President Clinto’s image with phone to ear presumably speaking to his wife: “Remember your vote decides who answers that phone call.”

Supplementing dairy cows with bovine somatotropin safely enhances milk production and serves as an important tool to help dairy producers improve the efficiency of their operations. “The web site makes the claim that milk from cows receiving the supplemental hormne is ” unchanged and just as wholesome and nutritious as always”.If this statement is true, why do 80 percent of consumers surveyed want milk from cows free of this so-called healthful hormone additive labeled as “rBGH-free”? These results are from a survey of consumers conducted by Food and Water Watch We are also wondering why such major food retailers such Publix Supermarkets, Chipotle, Starbucks, Tillamook, Kroger, and Meiers they will only buy rBGH-free milk? It has been widely reported Kraft Foods plans to produce an rBGH-free line of cheeses.

Most industrial nations, including Canada, Japan, Australia and New Zealand have banned the use of the hormone. All 27 member nations of the Eurpoean Union have banned the hormone which according to Monsanto “allows dairy farmers to produce more milk with fewer cows, thereby providing dairy farmers with additional economic security as well as providing related environmental benefits”. We interpret this statement to mean the cows and the humans are being exploited and abused. Cows who produce abnormal amounts of milk have a shorter life span. People who ingest milk from cows who produce an abnormal amount of milk because they have received the supplemental hormone bST may have a shorter life expectancy, too. The jury is still out on that point; but if so many governments have restricted the use of this chemical is the U.S. really providing “better living through chemistry” for its consumers who drink hormone laced milk?

We like our milk free of harmful hormones that may be linked to cancer in humans. That is why we drink rice milk or soy milk. We believe as humans we receive more nutritional benefit from milk made from grains than we do from milk from hormone treated cows.

In an uncharacteristic move on the part of super-de-duper department store Wal-mart in expressing its concern for the consumer, an employee of MicroSoft reported to executives the Wal-mart’s expressed disappointment “in the fact that the standards were lowered and feel like customer confusion will ensue. They would like to see Microsoft reconsider the program and allow for the use of 2 different logos; one that is strictly a Windows Vista Home Basic Capable, and the other Windows Vista Capable.”

The employee, Robin Leonard, of Microsoft even further stated, “Please give this some consideration; it would be a lot less costly to do the right thing for the customer than to spend dollars on the back end trying to fix the problem.”

A day later, Leonard also wrote Wal-Mart went right to Hewlett Packard and requested HP  “try and affect their production lines for the Spring assortment as much as possible and pull the logo from the base unit.”

Steve Schiro, a Microsoft corporate vice president, home and retail division, wrote Wal-mart was not alone in its requests something be done. Schiro wrote ”this feedback has been consistent from all retailers around the world.”

Several messages deal with the Intel 915 chipset. This major component was given a Windows Vista Capable designation even though it is unable to run Aero glass and other advanced Vista features.

Net Neutrality protections have been a part of the Internet since its inception. Do not believe the hype! Supporters of Net Neutrality are not promoting new regs. What is being sought is to re-establish the basic principles of nondiscrimination. These primary principles had protected the free-flowing Internet for  years until in 2005 the FCC made a decision that removed those safeguards. Net Neutrality supporters are attempting to restore established safety of the system while repairing the damage incurred by the actions of lobbyists for the Internet Service Providers. Net Neutrality advocates  are in favor of maintaining the Internet as the major source of economic growth and democratic communication.

In the recent past, every time we have heard the proponents of a major change in the way a utility is regulated or the advocates of sweeping modifications which will affect the way consumers utilize a service or are billed for its use, we have been told “… these changes will benefit the consumer”.  This has not been true in the past with deregulation of services like AMTRAK, energy-specifically electricity, telecommunications or airline deregulation.  The consumers of the deregulated service never receive a benefit from the change, unless you call paying increased rates for a service that does not work as well as it did before the authorities made it “better”,  a benefit.

Although the “d-reg” term “deregulation” is not being used in this instance Mr.  and Ms Consumer beware, whenever you hear those who wish to impose restrictions on your right to use a formerly good open service; one that functioned well; when you read or hear them describe the transformation as one that will be of benefit to you, do not believe it. In fact by now you should  know there isn’t one ounce of truth in those statements about benefits to consumers.

Internet censorship will remove the consumers’ ability  to choose. Today users of the Internet decide which sites are popular or not on the merit of the sites, products or services. An ISP, like AT&T or Comcast does not have the authority to arbitrarily select and distort the free marketplace. Actually the ISPs have already begun to respond to the removal of Net Neutrality protections by blocking competitive video-sharing applications.

Finally, discrimination/censorship is a decidedly insidious activity which will destroy  what the architect of the Internet Vint Cerf called ” innovation without permission”. Cerf designed the network to be free and open for  innovators and entrepreneurs. Many of today’s most highly favored sites, YouTube, MySpace, and FaceBook were developed in the last five years.
