Feb 06, 2010 in We Think

“You have to think about yourself, because no one wakes up in the moring with you on their mind.”~Attorney Allie Latimer

Allie Latimer is a living American shero who counts among her many educational, civic and professional  achievements, the fact she is the founder of the national organization Federally Employed Women (FEW).

FEW is an advocacy group established in 1968 to improve the status of women employed by the Federal government and by the District of Columbia government. (more…)

2010 Black History Month: President Barack Obama, Miss America Caressa Cameron

Feb 01, 2010 in We Think

It’s February in the United States and that means it’s time to celebrate the myriad contributions made by so many little known and well known people of black African descent.

It’s time to honor those who made it possible to change this country from the inside to a nation closer to living up to its creed of equality for all. (more…)

2010 Black History Month: Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

Feb 01, 2010 in We Think

As a public service YouThinkWhat begins its celebration of Black History Month by bringing to you the speech heard around the world in August 1963 in Washington, D.C..

We want you to know and remember Martin Luther King, Jr was substantive, not just a dreamer. He was a strategist and a man of action who used the same principles as India’s Gandhi, to lead the greatest movement for equality and freedom the world has ever seen. There is a difference between non-resistance and non-violent resistance to evil acts.

The late Dr. King, a recipient of the Nobel Prize for Peace, inspired a national movement and a worldwide following. (more…)

Etiquette For Attending A Presidential Address

Jan 31, 2010 in We Think

We are appalled by the reactions we’ve seen to President Barack Obama’s major addresses. The absence of proper decorum is astounding. The lack of etiquette in these situations has us awe struck. (more…)

    Thank You General Larry Platt

Jan 29, 2010 in We Think

When Simon Cowell, the infamous, mostly astute about assessing talent, judge on the teevee reality show American Idol said during an audition when he heard General Larry Platt’s original tune “Pants On The Ground” …”I’ve a horrible feeling this tune could be a hit”, we agreed. We did not have a horrible feeling because to us the lyrics make sense and the tune is catchy. We ;like it.

Rather than dismiss Larry Platt as just some old guy who received a benevolent 15 minutes of stardom, we found him interesting enough to conduct some research.

We found he is an American treasure. He is a part of living American History. (more…)

    International Crossroads-Blanche Reilly Dark

Jan 25, 2010 in We Think

The way I see it if Umar Farouk Abdul Mutallab had stayed in Nigeria or if he’d been stopped by the people in charge of the so-called U.S. “No Fly” list, there may not have been an attempt, a very pitiful attempt to blow up a plane en route to Detroit, Michigan on Christmas Day.

If that non-event had not taken place–after all no one was seriously injured, nonetheless the American flying public is afraid because of what did not happen; then we would not have heard Senator Lautenberg of New Jersey complain about the weak punishment for Haisong Jiang, 28, of Piscataway, NJ who “breached” a lame security area at Newark Airport. Haisong Jiang, a graduate student at Rutgers University, only wanted to kiss his beloved good-bye as she was on her way to California after a holiday visit with him. We wish him success in defending himself against the charge. We hope his community will provide the best legal mind available to insure his bright future. (more…)

Mark Fiore On Screwed Credit Card Consumers

Dec 11, 2009 in We Think

It’s holiday time gentle readers and we wish to bring to your attention the pending legislation regulating credit card companies and putting the financial screws to you the credit consuming public.

One of our favorite political cartoon creators, Mark Fiore, has  a view of the matter with which we agree. Take a look and be aware of what looms ahead for you with or without a credit card this shopping season and beyond. (more…)
