You Think What?

The tiny town, population approximately 2600, of Pierson, Florida; located in the northwestern part of Vousia County, has the distinction of being the “Fern Capital Of The World”. The town relies substantially on agriculture; essentially the main crop is ferns exported worldwide for use in flower arrangements and other decorative uses.

Bloomberg Poll recently released the opinion results of about 1000 American adults 18 years-old or older. The poll was conducted September 10 through 14; it has a margin of error of  plus-minus 3.1 percent.

When asked, a majority of these adults said they believe the tactics used by those who oppose the healthcare reform plan, as proposed by President Obama’s administration, are distortions being stated in order to frighten the public. Kind of like what was done last fall during the presidential campaign. (more…)

It’s hard to believe, but it’s true. It’s been more than 20 years since the Reagan administration began to implement its economic policy–trickle down economics, a policy named “voo-doo economics” by some Republicans. A policy that has brought our nation to overwhelming numbers of homeless citizens. Homeless citizens including families with children.

Family Renew Community (FRC) is an organization, financially  supported by local Judeo-Christian faith based groups, whose mission it is to provide help to families with children who are without the stability that comes from having proper shelter.  The FRC will be celebrating its 20th anniversary this coming Sunday, September 13th 2009 with an all you can eat Ice Cream Social. The British Collins English Dictionary has added these and 264 other entries to the 30th Anniversary Edition, published September 3, 2009. In order to qualify for inclusion in the highly respected collection of words, a word candidate had to have six quality citations in Collins’ digital corpus,  over the past two years. Collins’ digital corpus is a computerized database that scans 2.5 billion words various print and online resources. (more…)

For those fans who never can say good-bye, we just posted an update on a recent sale  of Michael Jackson memorabilia.

NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell personally delivered the news Michael Vick,  all of the members of the Philadelphia Eagles organization and their fans  and football fans around the world have been awaiting.

Goodell personally met with Vick for about an hour in New Jersey. The news of Michael Vick being clearedto be fully reinstated came prior to the Eagles losing 38-27 to the New York Jets in their final pre-season game. (more…)

The Mid-Atlantic Dachshund Phest, a convention of those little hot dog looking canines and their owners, is being held in Manassas, Virginia on Saturday October 3, 2009.This will be the eighth meeting of the dogs and their owners and you’ll be able to see them at the Prince William Fairgrounds from 10am un til 3pm for free!

The Mid-Atlantic Dachshund Phest is an annual event, originally known as Bark in the Park, featuring wiener dog races, dancing dogs, photo opps with Santa, a special Halloween costume contest and doggie parades.

There is no admission charge; nor is there registration required for your dachshund pooch to compete in the two weiner dog races.

Dog owners, dog lovers, or if you just want to have a fun filled day with this breed of man’s best friend, visit the 8th Mid-Atlantic Dachshund Phest. All are welcome. It’s indoors.The event will be held rain or shine, and it’s free.
