The Matrix – The Real Success Of Wachowski Brothers
The Matrix is probably the first movie that combined a lot of various ideas as religion, philosophy, Buddhism, existentialism, anime and virtual reality. As the Wachowski brothers managed to combine all these things into one movie, the Matrix is creative and breathtaking film that becomes a pop culture phenomenon. In fact, the Matrix is the first of trilogy where computer hacker discovers a path that will define not just himself, but as well the whole world.
The computer hacker Neo (Keanu Reeves) discovers and meets a mysterious man – Morpheus – who may know several answers to his existence. In the very beginning of the film Morpheus offers Neo the choice to know the truth and once there he can never go back. This truth is that the world is just a fake and is really a virtual world where controlled by machines. Morpheus is a freedom fighter for mankind to gain freedom from the machines.
Neo’s role in this plot is significant since only he is able to lead mankind to salvation. Neo is the one who can do various extraordinary things such as stop bullets, fly, but most importantly stop the matrix and the machines from the inside. The first movie in this trilogy is all about Neo’s journey to the acceptance for he much take to save the world.
Story wise the Matrix is a mind blowing concept that fuses various elements about technology in its place in the world and the notion of self in mankind. And the result is a plot that exceeds originality and at the same time plays homage to the influences science fiction.
As well, the performance of the movie is really great. Lawrence Fishburne who plays Morpheus gives a blend of mystery and coolness to his role. As the tough but vulnerable aide to Morpheus Trinity (Carrie Anne Moss) is a woman who is loyal to the cause of saving mankind, however is hesitant to show the real destiny to her heart. The real standout in the movie is the villain Mr. Smith (Hugo Weaving). In the movie Mr. Smith is a fascinating character who is computer program who has similar desire to a human needs.
As well, it is hard not to mention about the special effects that are utilized in the movie. Both special effects and the action of the movie provide the Matrix a sense of wonder and showmanship that raises the bar for cinematic experience. Due to great and high quality special effects there are a lot of breathtaking scenes in the film. At the same time, the Wachowski brothers did really great job to combine a lot of different ideals into one film like anime, Buddhism, religion, virtual reality and many others.
It could be easily said that the Matrix is one of the favorite films for many people from all over the world.
