From a report by the Associated Press reporter Lara Jakes Jordan–Wednesday, December 13, 2007
“WASHINGTON (AP) — A magazine published by the American Bar Association on Wednesday named former Attorney General Alberto Gonzales its Lawyer of the Year for 2007 — mostly for creating so much controversial news.
The ABA Journal also picked Attorney General Michael Mukasey — Gonzales’ successor — to be its lawyer of the year for 2008 because he has to deal with the problems left when Gonzales resigned under fire last fall.
Qualifications for the title were not immediately clear. But the ABA Journal’s picks, which will be published in its January issue, appear to award lawyers who spent a lot of time in the media spotlight.
“The top legal story of 2007 was unquestionably the unraveling of support for the Bush administration’s expansive view of presidential power during wartime, and with it, the slow-motion destruction of Alberto Gonzales’ reign as U.S. attorney general,” according to a statement issued Wednesday by the ABA Journal.
“Add to that the controversy over whether the administration fired eight U.S. attorneys for political reasons, and no single lawyer made more news in 2007 than Gonzales,” the magazine said.
ABA Journal spokeswoman Barbara Power confirmed the picks but did not have an immediate comment.”
Here’s a video example of why Alberto was chosen and why the quote “Fewer rights means fewer problems” is accurate to describe the former AG’s mindset. The congressman pointedly and doggedly questioning the form Bush administration official is Robert Wexler, (D) from the 19th congressional district in South Florida.

Latest reports indicate Buffalo Bills tight end Kevin Everett is experiencing a miraculous recovery from a spinal cord injury. He is walking.
Everett’s recovery has been the NFL’s most inspirational story this season. He was the Buffalo Bills’ third-round draft pick in 2005. Everett is soft-spoken and reserved and regarded highly by teammates and friends.
A source close to the family tells the Associated Press, “He doesn’t have a full natural stride but, yeah, he’s walking.” The source also reports Everett has been walking under his own power since his release from Memorial Hermann/TIRR three weeks ago and is now an outpatient there. The family friend says Everett is driven from his Houston-area home by car to attend daily rehab sessions and is able to walk to and from the facility

Henry Gandolph here with a rant about our leader.
Here we go again. The president, George Walker Bush is at it again. Sabre rattling President Dumbya. You’d think he’d get the message, especially when his trusted previously malleable intelligence crew states Iran gave up it’s nuclear weapons program nearly five, that’s right folks, five years ago. The message is obviously too subtle for this addle brained twit.
