Cheney Obama Kissin’ Eighth Cousins

According to news reports the wife of Vice President Dick Cheney has discovered her husband of 43 years is a distant cousin of Barack Obama, the Illinois senator who is running for the Democratic party’s nomination for President of the United States.
In an interview with MSNBC on Tuesday, October 16, 2007 Lynne Cheney who has been married to the vice president for more than 40 years stated it was “an amazing American story that one ancestor … could be responsible down the family line for lives that have taken such different and varied paths.”
The common ancestor was Mareen Devall, who the Chicago Sun-Times said was a 17th century immigrant from France.
The discovery was made by Mrs. Cheney while conducting research for her new book, “Blue Skies, No Fences,” about growing up in Wyoming. The commonancestor shared by Cheney and Obama is a woman Mareen Devall, whom the Chicago Sun-Times reports was an immigrant to this country from France during the 17th century.
We are wondering if this revelation will benefit Obama in his quest for the White House or if this news will cause Cheney to rethink his options and declare himself a candidate for the presidency.
