We at YouThinkWhat say to\u00a0 President Barack Obama, “No Sale!” on the idea Big Brother surveillance powers are necessary to keep us safe from terror…both foreign and domestic.<\/strong><\/p>\n

“The companies that negotiated with the government include Google<\/a>, which owns YouTube; Microsoft<\/a>, which owns Hotmail and Skype; Yahoo<\/a>; Facebook<\/a>; AOL<\/a>; Apple<\/a>; and Paltalk, according to one of the people briefed on the discussions. The companies were legally required to share the data under the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act<\/a>. People briefed on the discussions spoke on the condition of anonymity because they are prohibited by law from discussing the content of FISA requests or even acknowledging their existence.” ~\u00a0 San Francisco Bureau NY Times, June 7, 2013<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

We commend the decision makers at TWITTER for *not* acquiescing to the demands of the feds<\/a> to surrender data which would help them to surveil, eavesdrop and otherwise track the activities of ordinary citizens under the guise of “keeping America safe from terror”. The officials at Twitter made a courageous stand while other tech companies caved to the government’s demands.<\/p>\n

We know such measures, along with the shock and awe, the manipulation by fear, are methods to keep citizens from demanding government perform as proscribed by the Constitution of the United States. It’s a matter of control.<\/p>\n

Shame on President Barack Obama for his pitiful interpretation of the Constitution as regards the issue of privacy.<\/p>\n
