He&#8217;s the chief spokesman for the party holding the majority of seats in the body. At this time in history it&#8217;s\u00a0 the Democrats&#8230;the same party as the President of the United States, Barack Obama, now in his second term as president.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>&#8220;Is (a ban on assault weapons) something that can pass the Senate? Maybe. &#8220;Is it something that can pass the House? We oppose the use of guns as the panacea for every transgression, every irritating situation, large or small.
