President Barack Obama Elected By The People To Be POTUS, Not Miss Congeniality
We’ve noticed how the optimistic promises made about a year ago by, then, candidate Barack Obama, during the contentious presidential campaign, have not been kept by, now, President Barack Obama.
The staff at YouThinkWhat has patiently waited to see if our guy in DeeCee would stop his foolish attempts to be loved by all, and simply show some backbone, aka strength of courage, to do what needs doing for the good of the nation. This has not yet happened.
We probably had a clue when we saw his choice of advisors; we noticed a few of his cabinet selections we from the group that has sadly got us to where we are today. We told ourselves he was just trying to be fair, showing equanimity in building his cabinet of secretaries. This kind of fairness is something we never observed during his predecessor’s administration.
As we move closer to the one year anniversary of the election of President Obama, we are dismayed to see he’s holding the line on nearly all the policies of the past administration. This, to us and to most Americans, does not signify change in any way.
We would be so bold as to suggest to the leader of the free world, as did Ray Hanania, American Arab columnist, author, standup comedian when he wrote, “Act like the public supports you, because they do, and they will stand by their president.”
To this we add, whether or not the public supported George W. Bush never stopped him from doing what presidents do. And that is American presidents do whatever they damned well choose to do! They are presidential!
We agree. President Obama is behaving, as Hanania described, like he is “…months away from a re-election and fears offending the public.” Just stop it.
We advise the president to stay committed to the public option for healthcare.
We say don’t go picking a fight with Iran or North Korea. Let those people have their nuclear weapons. They will feel they are on par with the big guys.
Heaven forbid if a serious disagreement breaks out they will feel they are on a level playing field.
Goodness knows for the previous eight years the world lived in fear of the U.S., under the leadership of George W. Bush, as it did its impersonation of a rogue nation with President Dumbya as the head rogue.
In fact since the end of World War II the nations of the world have always been bullied by and lived in fear of, the possibility of the U.S. unleashing the full force of its awesome military power in order to dominate the world. Let’s not go back to those days.
Our people need relief from economic turmoil, mental and medical despair. Our children need education and guidance to be physically fit and morally strong.
Drop those zeroes from the traditional school of politics as usual. Make amends. Go bring back the progressives who helped you win the campaign. They are the ones who will deliver the change you so eloquently spoke about last fall. They will help you make the change we can believe in a reality.
In other words we encourage Barack Obama to be the danged president and lead us, We The People, dog-gone-it. Opposing public opinion never swayed BushCo. Why would opposing viewpoints have any influence in the era of Obama?
