What John Edwards Shoulda Said
Always on top of the current news and ever creative our staff at YouThinkWhat offers what former senator John Edwards should have said at his news conference last week . As you may recall he admitted to having an illicit extra-marital affair with the novice filmmaker Rielle Hunter. It is believed by some Edwards is also the father of Hunters baby daughter Frances Quinn, though Hunter says he is not, possible father Edwards says he will submit to paternity testing while Hunters friends and family are divided into groups that say Edwards is the baby’s daddy and others say they want the DNA testing to go forward to determine paternity.
These are the things we wish we could have heard from the mouth of the former senator:
“I had an affair. It was wrong. I know it was wrong. I am sorry I hurt my wife and children.”
We also wish he had answered this way when pressed with more questions by the ABC News interviewer: “It’s a deeply personal and private matter. I will not discuss anything more except to repeat I had an affair. It was wrong. I know it was wrong. I am sorry for the hurt and embarrassment I have caused all of my family.” Regardless of how relentless the media hounds are for more information about the scandal it is perfectly all right to say, “No comment” or words that mean the same. Who among us, who is right thinking, would be upset with a man who made a mistake and wishes to correct it by protecting the privacy of his wife and family? That to us would be heroic and a great way to make amends.
