Here's What They're Sayin' About Bill....

Bill Bennett, the morality expert, has drawn comments from places as varied as the White House, the US Senate and the United States House of Representatives. Here's what they have to say:
House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, D-California, "What could possibly have possessed Secretary Bennett to say those words, especially at this time? What could he possibly have been thinking? This is what is so alarming about his words."
Rep. Bobby Rush, D-Illinois,"This is precisely the kind of insensitive, hurtful and ignorant rhetoric that Americans have grown tired of,"
White House Press Secretary Scott McClellan told reporters on Friday that President Bush "believes the comments were not appropriate."

Senator Harry Reid, D-Nevada, "The Republican Party has recently taken great pains to reach out to the African-American community, and I hope that they will be swift in condemning Mr. Bennett's comments as nothing short of callous and ignorant,"

During a radio broadcast on Thursday Bennett stated,
"I was pointing out that abortion should not be opposed for economic reasons, any more than racism or for that matter slavery or segregation should be supported or opposed for economic reasons," he said. "Immoral policies are wrong because they are wrong, not because of an economic calculation. One could just as easily have said you could abort all children and prevent all crime, to show the absurdity of the proposition."

But on Thursday night Bennett said,
"I was putting forward a hypothetical proposition. Put that forward. Examined it. And then said about it that it's morally reprehensible. To recommend abortion of an entire group of people in order to lower your crime rate is morally reprehensible. But this is what happens when you argue that the ends can justify the means,"

Bill why didn't you say that instead of the example you chose? Could it be innate racism on your part??
