Jack Palance, Dead at 87; Gerald Levert Dead at 40

If the loss of broadcast journalist Ed Bradley wasn't enough to send us reeling we were doubly devastated when we learned of the demise of two other great entertainers. Actor Jack Palance, aged 87, died on Friday,

of natural causes at his home in Montecito, California. Palance was best known for tough-guy roles in several Westerns during his acting career. Palance, whose acting repetoir spanned six decades, won the best supporting actor Oscar for playing Curly in "City Slickers" a film starring comedian turned actor Billy Crystal.

Crooner Gerald Levert, 40, also died on Friday of a massive heart attack.

Levert, whose father Eddie Levert is a member of the popular R&B group The O'Jays, has recorded over a 20 year period many Gold and Platinum hits. In additon to being a performer Levert was the producer of hits for many well known musical artists including the late Barry White, Stephanie Mills, Teddy Pendergrass, the Winans and Patti LaBelle among many others.

Jack Palance and Gerald Levert will both be remembered. We have only to play a filmor listen to the musc to remember and recall their contribution to our world.
