DreamGirls: The Movie Starring Eddie Murphy, Anika Noni Rose, Jennifer Hudson, Beyonce, Jamie Foxx, Danny Glover

Here's a report from Clark Dark

about "DreamGirls" the newest, hottest musical to hit the big screen since 2002's Oscar winning musical Chicaco. That film was the first musical in 35 years to win an Academy Award for Best Picture!
There's a lot of buzz, as they say in the industry, about "DreamGirls" winning an Oscar.
Clark Dark here to tell you if you've not seen "DreamGirls" you absolutely must see this film. It is the biggest and the best family entertainment film since the release of "Pursuit of Happyness" starring Will Smith. There's a lot of buzz in Hollywood of possible multiple Oscar nominations. Many of the performances are simply outstanding. Bill Condon, the director may also be nominated for Best Director.

First, Beyonce looks terrific as the Deena character, a part loosely bnased on the persona of "The Boss" Miss Diana Ross. Knowles says she lost 20 pounds for the role and she still kept those curves. Hey, Bey, holla atcha boy Clark! You still
booty-licious, girl!

Anika Noni Rose, what a lovely exotic name for a beautiful, talented lady with the voice of an angel. I know some of you know her and remember her from seeing her performance in the shortlived musical in Philadelphia a few years back "Me and Mrs. Jones" based on the Billy Paul hit. It starred the late Lou Rawls. This lady is sheer sophisication and class.

Electrifying! That's what a musician from Philadelphia said when she saw and heard Jennifer Hudson's film perfomance of the show stopping tune "I'm Not Leaving". No, baby, you had best not leave. We Love You! Jennifer Holliday, an original DreamGirl, who played the role of Effie White during the stage production's run on the Great White Way, Broadway is the diva who made the song the classic hit that it is. Well this Jennifer, humble Hudson, has revived it and she has made her film version the hit! Kudos to her for a stellar debut performance as actress and singer. Who needs American Idol, anyway?

Jamie Foxx, hats off to you my brother.

You were sinister, sleazy and very convincingly so. Are you really that cold when you're not in front of the cameras?

Eddie Murphy you are an acting genius! You are a giant in the field of entertainment!

In your first dramatic role, which contained some comedy, you performed well. You were spectacular. We are glad this performance was caught on film. You used your real singing voice and every technique you have in your bag of entertainment tools. I see Best Actor Oscar in your future.

Danny Glover, Keith Robinson, and Loretta Devine, an original DreamGirl from the Broadway show, all provided commendable perfomances

This is a film you must see in the theater in order to get the full effect of the time. Bill Condon, the director fully captured the falva of the era. The costuming and sets were spectacular.

Go to the theater to see this film. Then buy it on DVD when it is available. That's what I intend to do. Clark Dark rates this film on the exclusive Clark Dark Intergalactic Cinematic-ometer the baddest film in the universe!

The movie is out of this world, I have seen it twice and can't wait till it comes out on DVD...Jennifer Hudson is a star of the present and future..I have only seen one other movie musical where after the main song, the audience clapped, and when it was over, the movie had a standing ovation, and that was Evita. Beyonce was great to, what a voice....Beyonce and Hudson deserve awards for this pic, and what would make the Oscars complete, is to have Jennifer Hudson and Jennifer Holiday sing their signature song, together....that would get a standing ovation...wow.....
