Bank Of America Ken Lewis In The News Again!

Feb 27, 2009 in We Think

Our favorite bank, Bank Of America, along with our favorite Banking Chief Executive, Kenneth D. Lewis are in the news again and the news is not good for the bank.

We’re hoping the scandals surrounding the banking institution some are calling SKANK of America, will somehow eventually resolve into benefits for the American consumer.

New York Attorney General Andrew Cuomo has issued a subpoena in his ongoing investigation of Bank Of America Corporation to get the names of Merrill Lynch executives who received $3.6 billion in year-end bonuses.
It seems Chief Executive Ken Lewis failed to provide those details during a lengthy deposition Thursday evening.

Lewis said he “answered the questions that were asked to the best of my knowledge.”

New York Post, President Obama, Harry Reid, Nancy Pelosi, Economic Stimulus And You

Feb 23, 2009 in We Think

Blanche Africa Reilly Dark has a commentary on the latest racial controversy involving the press and the politicians.

Recently the New York Post published an extremely controversial political cartoon depicting a chimp as the author of the economic stimulus bill just approved by the U.S. Congress and signed by President Obama.

Many people, both blacks and whites,  are offended by the violent racist messages in this political illustration. Some see the simian in the cartoon as a subtle reference to our new president who just happens to be our first black African-American president. Others see the cartoon as a definite statement of disrespect for the leaders of the House and the Senate as well as the office of the President Of The United States. To suggest violence against any or all of these institutions of government is not just impudent but irresponsible.

The illustration reinforces the long standing abhorrent tradition in this country of comparing black Americans to monkeys.

The argument comparing blacks to monkeys is a ridiculously specious one simply because monkeys are more closely related to whites than blacks. Underneath their furry exterior members of the species apes have white skin. They also have thin lips. (more…)

The Economy: Jon Stewart Has A Better Idea

Feb 22, 2009 in Business, We Think

Last month Jon Stewart, the affable host of Comedy Central’s The Daily Show,  made a suggestion during his interview with guest Gwen Ifill, of the serious news program Washington Week, as to how the economic crisis in the United States can be resolved.

We think Jon’s idea, like Ifill’s new book about political breakthroughs in this country, is indeed an idea to promote an economic advance in our system. (more…)

    Black History Is American History

Feb 12, 2009 in Education, We Think

February is the month in which many Americans, especially Americans of African descent, celebrate the history of coming to America.

February was chosen , not because it is the shortest month, but because it is the month of the birth of Abraham Lincoln the president who emancipated all the slaves.  Not every person who was a slave was Black or Native American. Many whites were indentured slaves.  Today the  financial institution executives have made many of our citizens modern day indentured slaves.

Included in that history are the trials and tribulations of being enslaved; but the joyful part of the history is the celebration of the achievements of the progeny of former black slaves.

At YouThinkWhat we acknowledge the successes and the triumphs in the face of extreme adverse conditions faced by men and women who despite those obstacles have contributed to the culture that is known around the planet as being uniquely American in its style.

Focus America On What Is Important!

Feb 06, 2009 in Communications, We Think

We have notice a distressing trend in the reporting of news in the United States. That trend is to report gossipy news stories about our leaders and politicians. The reporting goes beyond trivia about tee vee and movie stars.  The mayors of major cities, governors and senators are the focus of news stories that only serve to distract the public from the real news. Bank Of America More Bad News, Part 2

Feb 02, 2009 in Banking/Finance, Republicans, We Think

Will the utter reckless spending never end at Bank Of America? Reports of excess spending of the taxpayer bailout money at Super Bowl XLIII has been explained as being part of Bank Of America’s growth strategy.

Really? Would that be growth at the expense of the shareholders and depositors?

Bank Of America is reportedly in negotiations with the New York Yankees for sponsorship of Yankee Stadium.

According to ABC News Bank Of America spent $10 million to sponsor the 850,000 square foot event at Super Bowl XLIII known as the NFL Experience. (more…)

Bank Of America The Bad News Bank

    Feb 02, 2009 in Banking/Finance

We are unashamed of our unabashed continuous bashing of Bank Of America. As a woman we know would say, “They are financial terrorists.”

We concur. What they do as perpetrators of financial terror is akin to strapping on a bandoleer of explosives and detonating them in your home as physical terrorists would do causing harm, serious injury, even death to you and your family.

That is why we continue to alert the banking public to the actions of the largest bank in the U.S. by assets; assets that come from your deposits and excessive fees paid by you the depositor. (more…)
