Soulfege Featuring D.N.A. Derrick N. Ashong At Philadelphia World Cafe Live

Jun 22, 2010 in We Think

Derrick N. Ashong,  he is sometimes known as D.N.A., a native of Ghana, West Africa, is the consummate renaissance man. He’s a Los Angeles based musician,  composer of music and lyrics, a writer, an actor, an activist, a singer and one of the founders of the band Soulfege.

The name of the group is pronounced ’sOl-fezh; it is derived from the musical term Solfege for the diatonic (“do-re-mi” ) music scale. Soulfege is a musical group, with D.N.A. as its lead singer, representing the diverse sounds of the African Diaspora. Derrick N. Ashong will be in Philadelphia performing with Soulfege at the World Cafe Live on Sunday July 11, 2010 at 7pm .

    “Afro-Diasporic Groovalicious Funkadociousness!!!”

The band Solfege is lively, and spirited, founded by two singers and MCs who first met in a choir at Harvard University. The group is a refreshingly different and innovative addition to the  world of Urban Music. It has been described as

“…what you’d get if Bob Marley were jammin’ with The Fugees on a street corner in West Africa…”

They blend Hip Hop, Reggae, Funk and West African High-life. They are a musical act that is  enthusiastically approved by audiences; they have proven themselves to be a very popular Afropolitan fusion band that thrills audiences with its tight harmonies, powerful words, genuine musical artistry and sensitivity.

These musicians, educated at Harvard University, are the creators of “Take Back the Mic™,” a campaign to restore significant meaning to the music of today and to engage a new group of young people to seek and accept the role of leaders in our society.

Tickets are $10 advance; $15 day of show.  Contact World Cafe Live
3025 Walnut Street Philadelphia, PA 19104. Telephone 215-222-1400 for details.

Buy A Cape Coral Home For Sale To Highest Bidder

Jun 18, 2010 in We Think

Here’s a novel way some Cape Coral, Florida homeowners are planning to deal with the trials and tribulations of selling their home. Sell your home to the highest bidder.

We found this unique ad on Craigs’ List. Not only have these homeowners  decided to sell the property themselves, without the typical real estate sales agent to represent them, they’re willing to test the market by selling for an amount indicative of the price ready, willing, and able, qualified buyers will pay for their five year old 3 bedroom, 2 bath home. President Obama Shudda Said This In National BP Gulf Oil Disaster Speech

Jun 17, 2010 in We Think

MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow  as “fake President Barack Obama” tells viewers what she believes the president should have stated in his address about the current Gulf of Mexico oil drilling accident. Watch. We tend to agree with nearly all she, Ms Maddow, as the “fake president” says.

Visit msnbc.com for breaking news, world news, and news about the economy

We sincerely believe if the real President Barack Obama had said these things, he would have been more eloquent than Ms Maddow and equally as substantive in content.

Richard Fisher, President Dallas Federal Reserve Presses Tough Banking Reform

Jun 07, 2010 in We Think

“Regulators have, for the most part, tiptoed around these larger institutions [big banks]. Despite the damage they did, failing big banks were allowed to lumber on, with government support. It should come as no surprise that the industry is unfortunately evolving toward larger and larger bank size with financial resources concentrated in fewer and fewer hands.” ~Richard Fisher

The words of Richard Fisher, president of the Dallas Texas Federal Reserve Bank, confirm what we have believed since the beginning of this debacle in banking in the United States.

The fact is our government has helped the banking scoundrels to perpetrate (more…)
