You Think What?

We’ve heard all the talk about the decision by the International Olympic Commission (IOC) to choose Rio de Janiero, Brazil over Chicago, Illinois for the 2016 Olympic Games and Para-Olympic games. Here’s our take on the decision. It’s an easy call to make.

We are glad our new president had the boldness, the confidence, to go to Denmark to pitch his and the First Lady’s hometown to the IOC,  we were especially moved by Michelle Obama’s impassioned talk including her own personal family experience with sports. (more…)

The international controversy stirred up by the United States government’s sinister attack and subsequent kidnapping of film director Roman Polanski by the justice authorities of Switzerland, a formerly neutral nation, brings to mind all the myriad possible cases to be tried.

We’ve been told by American legal experts of a particular political bent, it is useless to go after, say, Dick Cheney, or former President George Bush for crimes committed against humanity in the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. (more…)

We are delighted to hear the news  internationally renowned film director Roman Polanski is reportedly, “in a fighting mood”.

Some may wonder why we are so outraged by the actions of prosecutors in California, members of the federal justice department and the department of state. These authorities are upholding a thoroughly abhorrent American tradition in law enforcement. The long arm of the law has a very long memory. It was not so long ago in the United States where a slave was a slave forever. Operating under the rule, “Once a slave, always a slave”, despite emancipation by an owner in one state, one could always be arrested and enslaved again in another jurisdiction. America has a tradition of turning likely productive citizens into fugitives.

The timing of this arrest of Polanski and the ensuing attempts to have him returned to the U.S. could not have come at a worse time. President Obama is trotting all over the globe attempting to improve our image among the world community, when some bonehead judge, assisted by an equally incompetent prosecutor, in flaky California, (more…)

We are delighted to hear the news internationally renowned American film director Roman Polanski is reportedly, “in a fighting mood”. Reports from Zurich indicate Polanski will not surrender to U.S. authorities’ demands to have him extradited from Switzerland to face California to prosecutors on a matter involving sex with an under aged girl in 1977. Recently we published an article about a Volusia County, Florida community service organization,  Family Renew , celebrating its 20th anniversary of providing help to homeless families with children.

We said the economic policy that has brought us to having a need, all around the nation, for  charitable agencies, like Family Renew of Volusia County, is the result of decisions made by the Republican Reagan administration. It was during the presidency of the 41st POTUS, Ronald Reagan, that policies based on supply-side economics were implemented thus laying the foundation for today’s economic debacle as predicted by economic experts more than twenty years ago. The tiny town, population approximately 2600, of Pierson, Florida; located in the northwestern part of Vousia County, has the distinction of being the “Fern Capital Of The World”. The town relies substantially on agriculture; essentially the main crop is ferns exported worldwide for use in flower arrangements and other decorative uses.
