A rash of Elvis sightings later this month may be the result of the arrival in stores of the WowWee Alive Elvis. This product is an animatronic bust of Elvis with infrared eyes and lips that are synchronized to music.

WowWee Alive Elvis can look you square in the eye. This thing can tilt its head and sing as only Elvis can “Love Me Tender” heard through the speakers located in its shoulders.

Created by George York, who is an inventor, the animated reproduction of Elvis Presley uses forensic reconstruction techniques and guidance from Graceland to make up this robotic version of Elvis in his prime. There are nine motors for head movements and facial gestures, plus four levers dedicated to the upper lip for that afmous sneer. All of these devices are located under the rubbery skin. The remote is microphone-shaped; it lets you adjust the volume, select the songs or switch between talking and singing modes.

Alive Elvis, available at Sharper Image stores and at Graceland for about $300. This super doll comes with a plug-in cartridge with eight songs and 37 phrases recorded by an Elvis impersonator. Three audio jacks, for playing music through the speakers, or to patch in a microphone just in case you want to karaoke and brush up your own Elvis impersonation in preparation for the office Halloween or Christmas party.
