NFL: Wild Card Results
Jan 19, 2011 in Professional Sports
“I love football, but I don`t like getting the result” – summed up my wife. Yeah, from what was upseting: three of the four of my favorite teams lost. Besides, I was first in my life risked to predict the outcome of playoff games and showed amazing accuracy – 0 of 4! Well at least didn`t bet my money…
Here are some words about what actually happened.
New Orleans Saints with Seattle Seahawks: 36-41
Drew Breese gained 404 yards Paz ( 15th time in the history of the NFL quarterback shows such productivity in the playoffs) and made two TD pass, but “Saints” completely failed. Moreover, it is terribly played takeaway.
New York Jets with Indianapolis Colts: 17-16
Peyton Manning could not save Indianapolis by himself, though was doing his best. “Jets” on the contrary – won despite the efforts of his quarterback. And again, I’m guessing developments (small consolation!), But no result.
Baltimore Ravens with Kansas City Chiefs: 30-7
“How interesting, looks the Kansasian panter?” – This question was quite difficult to answer, given that “the Chiefs’ have finished their attacks with five losses. Matt Cassel has shown that it is too early to rank him as an elite of NFL, and Joe Flaccus, contrary to the predictions of skeptics that it is perhaps already possible.
Green Bay Packers with Philadelphia Eagles: 21-16
Michael Vick scored almost 300 yards of Paz, but the decisive moment threw the ball into the hands of the defender Packers. Defeat Vick? Absolutely. But – if Philadelphia kicker David Ekers coped with their nerves and missed 2 of 3, guess who would win?
And as usual some more info about the chicago bears :
The Bears were a mess at the time, dropping three of four after a 3-0 start, and at least some fans believed they should go after the controversial receiver. Instead of taking a big chance, they took a good look at what they were doing during their off week.
They cut back on the deep drops by Cutler, who was taking a pounding, and committed to the run. They also figured out a rotation on the offensive line.
That reduced the wear and tear on Cutler and kept defenses off-balance, which in turn created openings on the ground and in the air.
The receivers did their part, particularly Knox and Bennett. Now, they’re about to get their first taste of the postseason.
“Both these receivers made enormous strides,” Martz said. “(Receivers coach Darryl Drake) has done a great job of the details; I’ve never been around a receivers coach like Darryl who’s so detail-oriented, that really understands what the quarterback’s trying to do. You tell those guys you have to play this game through the eyes of the quarterback, and our guys, I think, certainly do those things.”
For Bennett, these are busy times.
Along with preparing for the game, he was getting ready for the birth of his first child, a son. So he had plenty on his mind to go with that chip on the shoulder.
“There are a lot of guys who wish they were on this team,” Bennett said. “Everybody in here plays together. Nobody worries about who’s the No. 1 receiver. Nobody worries about statistics. We just go out, play hard. If we win, that’s all that matters.”
