Michael Vick Makes A Deal to Plead Guilty
It was recently announced by Michael Vick’s defense attorney, Billy Martin, that Vick has agreed to a plea bargain to plead guilty in the charges against him for his participation in illegal dogfighting activities on his property in Virginia.
Michael Vick is just one of 4 defendants charged with conspiracy to engage in competitive dogfighting, procuring and training pit bulls for fighting and conducting the enterprise across state lines. Despiste his initial statements denying guilt in the matter, Vick’s attorneys have filed papers with the court to make a formal guilty plea. He is expected to appear before the judge on Monday, August 27, 2007.
We believe Michael Vick had no choice but to admit his part in the activities to which his buds say he was a participant. They all pleaded guilty. Vick was left, you should pardon the expression, to swing in the breeze.
With this matter nearly concluded we can only hope other young athletes with the good fortune to be awarded a professional sports contracts will be prudent enough to exercise better judgement about the hobbies they pursue in their time away from their chosen sport.
This silliness is embarrassing for everyone associated with the athlete.
