Remington Precision Shotguns For Precision Shooters

Apr 30, 2011 in Professional Sports

The remington 870 shotgun is easily the best-selling shotgun ever. Over ten million have been sold, and for good reason. The 870 is a versatile shotgun, used by police officers, the military, and border patrol, as well as hunters and sport shooters.

First introduced to the market in 1950, the Remington 870 was designed to replace the Remington 31. The Model 31 was a well-liked side ejection pump action shotgun, but it did not sell well due to its competitor, the Winchester Model 12. Remington’s answer to this was to design a shotgun that was cheaper to make but that was also rugged and reliable. While the Model 31 was well-liked, just 196,000 of the model were built. Compare this with the over ten million 870’s that have been built.

The 870 Remington is a pump action shotgun designed by L. Ray Crittendon, Phillip Haskell, Ellis Hailston, and G.E. Pickney and is manufactured by Remington Arms. The different variations of the 870 range in weight from seven to eight pounds and range in length from 37.25 to 50.5 inches.

One of the reasons why the Remington 870 shotgun is so popular is there are hundreds of variations of the model, so no matter whether you’re looking to use the shotgun for civilian, law enforcement, or military use, chances are you’ll find a good fit for you. The the hundreds of variations of the 870 can be divided into six groups: Wingmaster, Police, Marine, Express, Super Magnum, and XCS.

The different chokes offered include fully rifled, rem choke, cylinder, and improved cylinder. The History Of Extreme Sports

Apr 04, 2011 in Professional Sports

Extreme Sports. We all know the images and ideals that these two little words conjure up when put together. Adrenalin. No Fear. Human v Nature. Liklihood of severe injury – High. Yet for those of us who embrace extreme sports these things are gagged, tied up and pushed into the dark recesses of our brains and all we know is the excitement and passion for doing them. The over-arching name ‘Extreme Sports’ is banded about very freely nowadays and it has become a houshold term in our daily language, even my ancient relatives know what I’m talking about. So my 2 main questions are: Where did these ‘extreme sports’ spring from and how long have they been around?

Well the answer is: They’re OLD! Maybe we haven’t always called them ‘extreme’ or ‘sports’ but the fact is people have always attempted to push the physical boundaries. Wikipedia will tell you that ‘Extreme Sports’ really picked up pace in the 1950′s, and although this is true to some degree, it is also true to say that us human lot have been doing bloody psychotic things for centuries!

So what is the definition of an extreme sport?
Collins Dictionary states: “Any of various sports with a high risk of injury or death” Alrighty, glad we cleared that up, but what do others say?

Dictionary.com states “Any athletic endeavor considered more dangerous than others, such as bungee jumping, snowboarding; also called action sport” Okay, well that’s a little different from the previous bumpf but we’ll go with it…

Macmillan Dictionary states: “A sport or activity that is exciting and dangerous, for example bungee jumping, white-water rafting, or snowboarding.” Erm…
So the definitions are quite different from ‘death’ to ‘danger’ to ‘excitement’. And the truth is that the definition of ‘extreme sport’ is continuously evolving. During the 1970-80′s, only sports such as white-water rafting where death wasn’t unusual would have of been considered extreme. Today you can buy a white-water rafting lesson on lastminute.com and not bat an eyelash. The definition has evolved over the past 3 decades to include sports that offer an element of danger but an adrenaline rush too.

Sports which have gained a reputation of being ‘extreme’ are sometimes a variation of a safer sport that is performed at a greater level of difficulty and with more danger attached. An example of this type of extreme sport would be mountain biking – while bicycling is often considered to be relatively safe, the modification of adding a high speed downhill though a wooded terrain with jumps would not be considered safe for the average bicyclist and although skiing is relatively common place nowadays with little kids showing us all up on the slopes, skiing off piste is not for the faint-hearted and is considered ‘extreme’ due to its’ element of danger.

The one thing which all extreme sports share is the unpredictability element. This is usually dictated by weather, environment and terrain. These are all to varying degrees, uncontrollable variables when practicing an extreme sport and it is these natural uncontrollable phenomena which separate ‘sports’ from ‘extreme sports’. For example: A high-jumper, although tremendously strong, athletic and in peak physical fitness is able to control their environment, however snowboarders have to be aware of the snow conditions, rock and ice quality for climbers and wave height, shape and intensity for surfers, see what I mean?

In 2004, Joe Tomlinson author of the ‘Ultimate Encyclopedia of Extreme Sports’ classified extreme sports into those that take place in air, land, and water
Nine air sports are mentioned including: BASE jumping, bungee jumping, gliding, hang gliding, high wire, ski jumping, sky diving, sky surfing, and sky flying.
Eighteen land sports including:indoor climbing, adventure racing, aggressive inline skating, BMX, caving, extreme motocross, extreme skiing, freestyle skiing, land and ice yachting, mountain biking, mountain boarding, outdoor climbing, sandboarding, skateboarding, snowboarding, snowmobiling, speed biking, speed skiing, scootering and street luge.

Fifteen water sports including: barefoot water skiing, cliff diving, free-diving, jet skiing, open water swimming, powerboat racing, round the world yacht racing, scuba diving, snorkeling, speed sailing, surfing, wakeboarding, whitewater kayaking, windsurfing.
But this list isn’t exhaustive, new extreme sports are being added all the time, such as wingsurfing, parahawking, heliboarding, paintballing.

    Professionals in Extreme Sports

The X Games must be credited in bringing extreme sports into our living rooms and have certainly helped young kids take up these more extreme sports, there’s almost not a pavement (sidewalk to you folks across the pond) in the world that hasn’t been skateboarded by a tween. The popularity of extreme being spelled ‘Xtreme’ is almost certainly thanks to the X Games, type Xtreme sports blog or extreme sports blog into your browser and and you’ll get a plethora of sites dedicated to adventure sports.

The Winter X Games are currently held at Buttermilk

    Introducing Water Ski Equipment

Mar 14, 2011 in Professional Sports

Those who take up waterskiing call it challenging and fun, still, how much anybody gets out of the activitydepends in large part on thequality and how well suited the water ski equipment is to the skier. So how does one choose the exact right equipment and skis available?

While you’re in a store that sells water ski equipment, it’s important to know one’s skill level. For beginners, the most common type of water ski to choose from is usually a set of combination pairsbecause they’re the easiest to learn with thanks to their wider tips that provide better control. The second most common type of ski is the slalom water ski kind. A slalom water ski is usually the ski that those who prefer to ski on one leg choose, and are also preferred by aggressive skiers. Trick skis and jump skis are suitable only for the experts.

Next, consider that in terms of the design of your water ski equipment, the majority of water skis that are made today are made from or a fiberglass and graphite composite which make them more durable and more able to resist water. The bottom designs of the skis will either have a narrow tunnel or be concave. Narrow tunnel water ski equipment is meant for skiers who like to ski standing straight up with their weight distributed backwards slightly, while concave skis are best suited for skiers who like to attack the water by skiing forward with their knees bent.

The rocker, flex and length mean so much when buying new or used water ski equipment. What’s referred to as the rocker is the measurement of the bottom side of the skiis in proportion to the speed the ski will provide. If the rocker is bigger, the quicker the ski will be. The same is true of flex, except the equation works backwards. Meaning that the more flex a ski has,the harder it is to pick up speed.

The next consideration for your water ski equipment purchase are the bindings and here, you really want to focus on comfort. Beyond that, the bindings are chosen based on what type of water ski equipment is being purchased.

The water ski rope and handles should also be paid close attention to when buying water ski equipment. A water ski rope should be elastic in nature and able to give and take as the skier navigates through the water. As for what handles to purchase, you’ll probably only be buying one becausemost water skiers now only ski one-handed. Comfort is also key as well.

Mar 04, 2011 in Professional Sports

Whatever way relative it is children love trampolines. The kids on the road that have a trampoline in their backyard will probably be buying a ton of buddies every single day of the week. Issues decided to get your first trampoline you can also find some important considerations as well as a quick (however essential) safety training for you personally as well as your children.

You can find a large choice of trampoline shapes and sizes to fit whatever room you have available, whether it is with regard to indoors or outside. Beginning from toddler age up to trampolines for grown ups and newer acrobats- the choices are endless so the number 1 place to start has been any kind of dimension restrictions you’ve got.

    Configuration

The dimension of your yard may influence the size and shape of trampoline you decide on.

A minimum of Six ft everywhere is suggested close to your trampoline, making certain the trampoline costs nothing of expense wires, overgrown limbs through trees and shrubs as well as fences.

Trampolines are available in round, rectangle-shaped as well as sq . designs. There are variations in the ‘bounce’ of every form of trampoline. Round trampolines help keep the baby bouncer in the center, thus tend to be better for beginners, rectangular trampolines provide the greatest bounce, therefore are better for gymnasts as well as square trampolines are somewhere between.

    Trampoline Add-ons

This particular where one can truly go crazy, whether with a range of security add-ons or even a fill of enjoyable things for the kids to do while they are on their new trampoline. Gymnastics leotards for kids tend to be some thing you should try to find to make exercises secure.

The most critical of the security accessories is obviously the back-up / enclosure. All of the over shapes of trampoline may be fitted keeping the vehicle safe nets that absorb the effect through drops and allow inexperienced users to achieve self-confidence without the concern with falling. Additional security add-ons you decide on depends on the location of your trampoline. Of course the kids are only interested in the trampoline accessories that extend their own play possibilities- such things as a Rebound Board, Bog Best Tent or a Baseball Objective Arranged. Poor Draft Decisions Lead To D-Coordinator Goose Egg

Feb 24, 2011 in Professional Sports

As the position of Defensive Coordinator for the Philadelphia Eagles remains vacant after Sean McDermott’s firing, one cannot help but wonder what is going on in the heads of Head Coach Andy Reid, President Joe Banner or General Manager Howie Roseman. Many speculate that they have their man pin-pointed, and that person is from one of the two teams remaining in the playoffs. That may be the case, but it cannot be ignored that whoever they hire, will be at most, Plan D. That’s right, three men have already shot down the 2010 NFC East Champions and there might be more to come. How is it that this perennial Super Bowl contender hasn’t been able to get its man?

Dick Jauron, who worked here last year as secondary coach and is a long time friend of Reid, opted to take the defensive coordinator opening in Cleveland, a team that finds itself sitting at home come January, year after year. Supposedly the Eagles job was his for the taking. Same goes for Jim Mora Jr., former head coach of Michael Vick. He would rather stay in broadcasting another year than come coach the defense in Philly. Former New Orleans secondary coach chose the putrid Denver Broncos defense over the Eagles.

When did Denver, Cleveland and the NFL network set become more attractive opportunities than Philadelphia? Many will attribute these swing and misses to the Eagles’ terrible third down and red-zone defenses. But looking past those stats, they ranked 12th in total yards allowed, compare that to the Browns, 22nd, or the Broncos, 32nd, dead last in the NFL. McDermott’s defense ranked 14th in passing yards allowed, which is also better than Cleveland and Denver, who came in at 18th and 25th respectively. The Eagles also ranked higher than both teams in rushing yards allowed, sacks and turnovers forced. Both Cleveland and Denver changed Head Coaches after the 2010 season. Reid is now the longest tenured coach in the NFL. So stability isn’t the reason.

The answer lies within the Eagles roster, and the realization that things probably won’t improve with Reid in the picture. The front office always claims to be a team who builds through the draft. A quick look back at the defensive draft picks made under the Reid regime will tell you otherwise.

Stuart Bradley is the best linebacker drafted since 1999 by default, and he can’t stay healthy. Barry Gardner, Quinton Caver and Matt McCoy were all 2nd round picks. All were disappointments. Some of the other recognizable names are Chris Gocong, Omar Gaither, Moise Fokou and Joe Mays. All have proven to be average at best. The jury is still out on rookies Jamar Chaney and Keenan Clayton. No linebacker drafted by Reid has made the Pro Bowl.

Trent Cole is the only defensive end worth talking about, but the inability to put quality on the rest of the defensive line has been a huge problem. Other than Cole in 2008, Corey Simon (6th pick overall in 2000) is the only Pro Bowl lineman drafted under Reid. He only played here for five seasons. Other D-Line first round picks include rookie Brandon Graham, colossal bust Jerome McDougle, and the undersized, under-achieving defensive tackles Broderick Bunkley and Mike Patterson. High draft picks have been spent on Victor Abiamiri and Trevor Laws (2nd round), Derrick Burgess, Bryan Smith and Daniel Te’o-Neshiem (Both drafted in the 3rd Round), but none have made an impact. Cole was a 5th rounder, so it is safe to say they lucked into him, considering the numerous misses.

Only rookies Nate Allen and Kurt Coleman are safeties drafted by Reid that are still on the roster. Quintin Mikell is probably the best safety Reid has brought in, but he was signed as a rookie free agent and probably will not be here next year. Others ranging from Sean Considine to CJ Gaddis have not lasted very long.

The 2002 draft landed cornerbacks Lito Sheppard and Sheldon Brown; both were solid players while here, both are now gone. The Eagles have failed to replace them with the likes of Jack Ikegwuonu, Macho Harris or Rashad Barksdale. Rookie Trevard Lindley showed a little promise this season, but couldn’t beat out Joselio Hanson or Dimitri Patterson, and that’s not a good sign.

49 defensive players have been drafted by Reid. Only four have made it to the pro bowl, with Sheppard the only one going twice.

Whether it is a problem with player evaluation or philosophy, the Eagles have continually drafted poorly on the defensive side of the ball. Over time, the players Reid inherited and the picks that they have hit on have aged or left. Few remain. This has left the defense in bad shape, so it is up to the defensive coordinator to make up for average players with schemes, teaching and leadership. But a man can only do so much; at the end of the day the players have to make plays, and the Eagles don’t have the personnel to do so.

Jauron and Allen both know this, and figure their chances are better in towns that have new coaches in place, where their input will have more weight and can put the players they want on the field. Mora Jr. is content working in broadcasting 6 months out of the year, until a better coaching position opens up. The hard truth is that McDermott actually did a pretty good job. The even harder truth is that the Philadelphia Eagles are a less desirable employer than the lowly Cleveland Browns. As painful as that is to say, it is the harsh reality.

The Easiest Way To Perfect The Kickflip — Shoe Recommendations As Well As A Short Three Part Instruction Intended For Skaters

Jan 27, 2011 in Professional Sports

If you are brand spanking new to skateboarding, no doubt you’ve read about a kickflip before. The kickflip is among the clutch staples associated with nearly all skater arsenals, as well as the first technique that a number of skaters study. A very good component associated with the kickflip involves building some elementary stability in addition to board management that can benefit you significantly with other techniques you choose to learn later on. It likewise acts as a form of changeover in to all kinds of other excellent stunts, and is also essential to master should you wish to learn any of the more advanced tricks. I’ve come up with a few of the critical factors to concentrate on while you are discovering the best way to grasp the kickflip, along with a couple of quick tips on skate shoes at the end of this article.

    1. Perform your ollies at slow, normal, and fast speeds right up until you have become at ease with it. The ollie is like a dumbed down version of a kickflip. Once you’ve gotten the ollie completely figured out and make them a trusted part of your game, you will end up at a good point to get started working on the genuine kickflip itself.

    2. The exact method intended for accomplishing a kickflip is not hard. Place your rear foot as you were thinking of doing an ollie, and place the front foot on a angle on the board’s nose, under the mounting bolts at the front. Pop the board the same way like an ollie flicking your forward foot up on a right angle on the indented curve at the front on the board. The board ought to flip in the event you made it happen effectively.

    3. When you could consistently get the board to flip, you’ll want to work on catching it. The sole suggestion I am able to supply you with here is to attempt to apply the exact quantity of force and get exactly the same angle on every single spin to enable you to practice consistently. This stage is dependant on putting the work in, so just dig in and carry on until eventually you get the sense for doing this. Once you can actually catch the kickflip reliably, you just have to have the landing down and you are good to go.

If you check out the steps in this write-up and train, kickflips will likely be easy for you before you know it. It’s paramount to remember that skate boarding is definitely a sport as with any other, and the right gear is important. For boarding, the footwear are definitely key, so don’t go about skating in a couple of runners, because you will be more likely to hurt your self and also ruin your shoes in the process. If you’re thinking about a great pair of shoes to skate with, ipath shoes creates a number of pairs that I have fun with. My personal fave is without a doubt the ipath gall skate shoes, and it’s also designed by pro skater Fred Gall and also is supplied in numerous different models. It’s a really light shoe that has an awesome bottom grip, plus given that it happens to be developed by Fred you will know that it is put together for tearing it up.
