    Bows And Arrows

Aug 27, 2010 in College Sports

The ancient skill of archery has been practiced throughout the past and the present in many cultures around the world. The modern bow is far more superior than the ones used by the hunters, warriors and military of days gone by. Archery has been and still is the skill of firing an arrow from a bow at a target, but is now mainly used for recreational purposes.

It’s believed that the bow and arrow have been used for around nine thousand years, starting around 7000 BC. The oldest bows that have been found to date were discovered in Denmark in a swamp. Archery became highly developed by many cultures in the past until firearms were developed, and this eventually saw their demise till the times of more recent days. (more…)

    For Skateboarding Newbies Only

Aug 10, 2010 in College Sports

So just how hard is it to skateboard? It’s basically just standing right? Doesn’t the board do all of the work for you? If you’re new to it, then maybe you’re wondering about these questions. But for sure, you’ll soon realize there’s a lot more to it than standing on a moving skateboard. You’ll have to practice to gain the skills you’ll need to skate well.

You need to practice a lot. It’s really a good idea to have some skills with the basics before moving on to more advanced skating. Ok – keep reading to find out several important tips if you’re a rank beginner. You can then skate off and make a trip to purchase your new sample of Lifecell Cream and be healthy too!

Have the right equipment! You may initially feel a bit uncool wearing the protective and safety gear like elbow pads, knee pads, shin guards, and brain box (helmut). After you start skating, not a lot of time will pass before you’re glad you’re wearing it. Just like riding a bike, you are going to fall off more than you are going to go forward–especially if you’ve never tried to skateboard before. Properly stopping your board will most likely give you more troubles than you want. In time, you may decide to lose some of the protective gear. But it’s still a great idea to keep the helmut on. You want some protection in case you get surprised by something and fall off. Being fit is one thing. You can look after your skin also with products such as Dermajuv Reviews and benefit in a number of ways. You really should get your board at a skaters specialty shop and not a department store or sporting goods store. The people who work at a skater’s store will know how to select the best board for you to get started with. You’ll see a lot of new people using an ABEC board, at first. But it’s good to try different styles and weights so you can really find one that works best for you. You’ll find people in skating shops know more and usually are skaters, so they’ll be better able to help you. So it’s important to consider their advice and recommendations. They’ll know what the real story is!

Goofy and Regular are two basic stances you’ll want to learn. The Regular stance is done with the left foot in front, right foot in the rear. In Goofy the opposite is true. You can do four basic push-off techniques. Goofy (use your left foot), and Mongo Goofy: push with your front (left) foot, Regular (use your right foot to push), Mongo Regular: push with your front (right) foot It’ll take a bit of time to decide what’s best for you.

The basics can seem hard, but only if you don’t put the practice into them. No one was ever an immediate pro. Have some patience and practice, then you’ll really know how to control your board. People get hurt when they cannot control the board.

GENERAL STRIKE Friday, November 23rd 2007

Nov 06, 2007 in Business, Civil Rights, College Sports, Communications, Democrats, Education, Entertainment, Foreign Policy, Justice, Major League Baseball, Media, National Football League, Professional Sports, Republicans, Technology, US Politics, We Think, You think so

We think strikes and demonstrations along with boycotts are very effective means of telling the powers that be how We The People generally feel about the management and leadership being provided for our nation.

On October 17th 2007 it was Shut It Down. On November 2nd 2007 it was Consumer Black Out. We now suggest we pick up the baton from writer Garret Keizer of Harper’s Magazine, who suggests November 6th as a date for a strike, by organizing a General Strike on Black Friday, November 23rd 2007, the day after Thanksgiving.

This is an uber powerful idea from our leader Henry T. Gandolph, Site Administrator.

Henry is a very wise man. He has come up with a solution to the quandary of when a general strike would have the most impact, and we really like the idea.

Henry says, “For the most impact, Friday, November 23rd would be the best day for a general strike! If everyone boycotts the stores it will send the whole country into a panic. If sales people refuse to work, how will they even open the stores? The whole Christmas sales season is prognosticated upon the the day after Thanksgiving sales. If We The People just withhold our holiday shopping on that day, We The People would surely get the media attention and the attention of the whole country including our political dictators. ” (They may not be 100% dictators in the classical sense but they truly love to dictate what we will do.) GENARLOW WILSON Released By The Georgia Supremes

Oct 27, 2007 in Civil Rights, College Sports, Communications, Democrats, Education, Justice, Media, National Football League, Professional Sports, Republicans, Technology, US Politics, We Think, You think so

On Friday, October 26, 2007, in an historic decision the members of the Georgia Supreme Court ruled 4-3 to release Genarlow Wilson age 21, from prison.

Wilson is the Atlanta man who has spent more than two years in prison for having oral sex relations with a consenting minor 15 year-old female at a party in 2005. At the time the incident took place he, himself, was 17, an honor student, football star and homecoming king at his school.

The majority opinion of the judicial panel decided upon Wilson’s release because his sentencing was excessive. In their opinion for the State of Georgia it was described as cruel and unusual punishment. At the time of his conviction Georgia law mandated the crime be punishable by 10 years in prison and registration as a sex offender. The law has since been changed by the legislature to something more reasonable. Those who come under Georgia law who are now found guilty of behaving in this manner face a punishment of no more than a year in prison and no sex offender registration. (more…)
