Finally last week, after years of waiting, the United States House of Representatives faced down the Bush White House over two very important constitutional issues.

The first was approval of the civil and criminal contempt proceedings against two associates of the Bush administration. The House has found former White House Counsel Harriet Miers, in contempt of Congress. You may recall she said the president is the smartest man she knows. This statement suggests to us Mrs Miers doesn’t get out much. Current White House Chief of Staff Josh Bolten is also charged. Both Miers and Bolten chose to ignore a House Judiciary Committee subpoena issued during the hearings investigating the 2006 firings of nine US Attorneys for what appears to have been political reasons. Those who were fired refused to comply with demands by Republicans to bring weak cases involving voter fraud against Democrats (more…)

So much for money being an indicator of political strength.

Rudy Guiliani raised lots of cash, even breaking the fund raising to delegates gained record of the late governor of Texas, John Connelly for most money raised and spent to gain the lowest number of delegates. Guiliani’s delegates, all two of them cost him 15 million dollars each. That’s a whole heap of lot of votin’ Daddy! Rudy is done. He’s toast It’s over for Mister Nine-One-One!

Just when you thought nothing could possibly top that, John Edwards comes along and concedes to the black guy with the big ears and funny name and to the thick ankled female with the strident voice whose husband was once the C-I-C . (more…)

After Fred Thompson, the actor, rightly said, “I’m outta here!” Rudy Guiliani, America’s mayor but apparently not destined to be America’s president, accepted defeat. The United States Senate is considering legilation that is in violation of the Fourth Amendment to our Constitution. This legislation includes Retroactive Immunity for telecom companies. You know AT&T, VERIZON, and whatever names the new Baby Bells have chosen to call themselves lately. (more…)
