That’s right. Jacob Zuma, who served time in a South African prison along with former President Nelson Mandela, is now the President of South Africa. Mr. Zuma is the fourth democratically elected president of South Africa since the end of apartheid. As they say in the vernacular, “That’s all good.”
The real, important news is the fact President Jacob Zuma has three wives. Polygamy is legally recognized in South Africa.According to news reports all three Mrs. Zs attended the official inauguration on Saturday, May 9, 2009.
Nevermind that Trevor Manuel, the longest serving finance official in the G20, has been promoted to a more powerful finance position in Zuma’s cabinet; or that after fifteen years South Africa’s unemployment rate is a whopping 23 per cent plus.
What is seemingly more news worthy is the fact Zuma has been married five times, and one of his former wives, Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma, is even in the cabinet. They are still friendly, though some who claim to know them describe their current relationship as “frosty”.
