Senator Obama Endorsed by New Mexico Governor Richardson
“As a Hispanic-American, I was particularly touched by his words. Senator Obama has started a discussion in this country that is long overdue and rejects the politics of pitting race against race.”~ Governor Bill Richardson, New Mexico.
New Mexico governor Bill Richardson joined Senator Barack Obama at a spirited rally Friday to announce his support for the senator.  Richardson  complimented the Illinois senator’s demonstrated leadership abilities shown last week with his speech on race given in Philadelphia. Richardson predicted,  “You are a once-in-a-lifetime leader. Above all, you will be a president who brings this nation together.”
Obama leads Clinton in delegates. Richardson’s support of the Illinois Democrat is surprising since he believes superdelegates, such as he,  himself, should bow to the will of the people by choosing to support and vote for the candidate who has won the majority state delegation. By that reasoning Richardson would have selected Clinton as the candidate to support.
Richardson is a possible candidate for veep if either Clinton or Obama should win the party’s nomination.
