During the 15 minute court proceeding in front of a federal judge in a Virginia courthouse suspended Atlanta Falcons’ star quarterback Michael Vick entered a plea of guilty to federal conspiracy charges.

Following the legal appearance Vick went before world media to address his behavior over the past several months, apologize for his deception, announce his religious conversion and ask to be forgiven by his myriad fans. (more…)

Bush gives us his view on the Attorney General’s highly desired, to the point many believed it was too much to hope for but hoped for nonetheless, long overdue, totally unexpected resignation, which has been well received greeted with relief and a better late than never public response. An announcement was made on Thursday of the intended resignation at the end of this month of US Assistant Attorney General Wan J. Kim. Kim, who was nominated by President George W. Bush in the spring of 2005 and confirmed by the US Senate in November of the same year, was instrumental in the re-authorization of the Voting Rights Act of 2006. (more…)

It was recently announced by Michael Vick’s defense attorney, Billy Martin, that Vick has agreed to a plea bargain to plead guilty in the charges against him for his participation in illegal dogfighting activities on his property in Virginia. (more…)

No decision has yet been issued by National Football League Commissioner Roger Goodell in the matter concerning the federal indictment of Atlanta Falcons quarterback Michael Vick.

Vick and 3 other defendants have been charged with conspiring to engage in competitive dogfighting, procuring and training pit bulls for fighting and conducting the enterprise across state lines.

Reports indicate Commissioner Goodell is waiting for a reportto be asubmitted by hired observers, a group led by former deputy U.S. attorney general Eric Holder.

Roger Goodell has the authority, based on his newly implemented personal conduct policy; a regulation which supercedes the former violent crime policy, to impose upon Vick a suspension which could be effective coincidental to any prison sentence prescribed by the federal court in Virginia or following Vick’s release from law enforcement custody.

Vick is expected to appear before U.S. District Judge Henry E. Hudson to make a formal guilty plea on Monday August 27, 2007.

Earlier this month it was widely reported Bruce Gordon, the former Verizon Communications executive, resigned from the position of CEO of the venerated civil rights organization the National Association of the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP). (more…)

After cancelling their planned extravagant wedding ceremony to be held in the home of record executive L.A. Reid in the Hamptons, popular singer Usher, and his fiance Tameka Foster, were married in a civil ceremony in his attorney’s office in Atlanta on August 3, 2007.

Reports vary as to whether or not his mother was at the ceremony. Some entertainment news outlets indicate she was not present; other reports say she was.

We have been unable to verifiy whether or not his mother was in attendance. Chicago Sun-Times columnist Stella Foster reports Jonetta Patton, mother of the sensational performer, was a witness to the nuptials.

At least one source, EURweb.com – reports Patton went to a spa instead of her son’ s wedding.

Just one week before the marriage ceremony took place in private the couplke had cancelled the planned formal public event amid outrageous and persistent rumors of discord between Foster, the fiance, now wife, Mrs. Usher Raymond, and Patton the mother of the young star of the Broadway stage, video and music recordings.

No matter we wish them all the best in their new life together…Usher and Tameka that is!
