Komarnistky’s Controllable Christmas Lights in Colorado For Charity
Okay so the name Alek Komarnitsky isn’t exactly a household name, but he’s a superstar in his neighborhood, especially at this time of year.
You see Komarnitsky and his lovely wife Wendy have two young sons who have a disease known as Celiac Disease. It’s an autoimmune disorder that interrupts the absorption of nutrients. It has many different symptoms. People who have the disease can not tolerate the ingestion of foods, such as wheat, rye and barley, and other items we use everyday, such as medicines and vitamins, containing glutens.
When a few years back Komarnitsky’s young sons were diagnosed with this disease the dedicated, responsible and loving parents, Alek and Wendy, decided to do something creative to help raise money for research for a cure. So they set up Christmas lights and fancy decorations at their Colorado home.
Alex then took pictures of the house and put them on the Internet. Of course this was in the early days. Alek thought of a quick way to get publicity for the fund raising, so he promised Internet surfers who visited the new site they’d be able to control the lights at the house. Just a click of the mouse to turn them off or on
The secret to how this was done can be found at his web site. That was way back in 2004, and you gotta hand it to Alex he’s a geek and quite a prankster. We admire that in a person!
We also admire his level of integrity, because ever since that fateful Christmas when he pulled a self admitted hoax, he’s been working with Santa Claus and Santa’s crew to provide technology that really truly does allow Internet visitors to the site to control the Christmas lights.
We like the idea! We wish we’d thought of it ourselves. Alek and Wendy have a passion and a reason for providing joy and happiness as they do every year. We commend them for raising more than $20, 000 dollars for the University of Maryland Center For Celiac Research (CFCR) We suggest you help this worthy cause by making a donation and visiting the controllable Christmas Lights site. You’ll have a blast. We’ll even say you’ll find the experience illuminating!
